Hospitalist - Physician

TeamHealth has a new day shift hospitalist opening at St. David's Georgetown Hospital in Austin, Texas. This is an established program between TeamHealth and HCA staffed with internal medicine hospitalists and nocturnists that are all local to Austin. Our physicians work a traditional 7-on, 7-off schedule. St. David's Georgetown has 118 beds but only 50 beds are handled by the hospitalist program. We are currently staffing with 2 daytime physicians (7a-7p); 1 swing physician (2p-7p), and 1 nocturnist physician (7p-7a). This is a closed ICU setting, averaging 20-22 total patient encounters per day shift clinician and an average of 7 admissions at night, seeing 60-70 cross coverage patients. We do not require our clinicians to perform procedures within this role. You only need to respond to codes for your patients, so you are able to assist the codes team. The Division of Allergy, Asthma, Immunology and Rheumatology is growing, and this is your opportunity to join a collaborative, academically engaged team with real infrastructure behind it including an infusion center, dedicated research support, and active multicenter clinical trials. Position Highlights Full-time, employed position with an 80% clinical effort with 20% protected academic time dedicated to teaching, research, quality improvement, and program development Join a team of six Allergy/Immunology faculty members, two Pediatric Rheumatologists, 4 Allergy/Immunology fellows, specialized allergy/immunology nursing staff, social workers, asthma-focused advanced practice support, and an established SCID newborn screening program. Balanced clinical schedule with 6-7 half-day clinics per week. Approximately 5-7 days of inpatient allergy/immunology/asthma consult service per month. Shared home call responsibilities with no in-house call requirements. Average weekend inpatient consult coverage is 1 every 4-5 weeks. Patient populations include pediatric and adult patients with a broad spectrum of allergic and immunologic diseases. Academic appointment with the Department of Pediatrics, Central Michigan University College of Medicine. Additional opportunities for inter-institutional teaching and research collaboration with Michigan State University and Wayne State University School of Medicine.
