Troubleshoot, install, test, repair, modify, relocate, maintain, and calibrate refrigeration equipment, air conditioning equipment, pneumatics controls, DDC controls, VAV’s systems during malfunctions and for daily operations. Troubleshoot, maintain, build graphics, upgrade controllers, program, upload/download and calibrate DDC controls to include JCI Metasys, Honeywell Tritium and Schneider Electric Continuum systems in a laboratory interment. Maintain, verify and correct issues on equipment to include freezers, refrigerators, walk-ins, pressure, temperature, humidity and light sensors. Maintains detailed maintenance and service reports/logs on all equipment in accordance with institute SOPs and regulatory compliance procedures. Follow all institute standard operating procedures, safety, security and security procedures and practices while repairing and maintaining the buildings HVAC/R systems and equipment. Ensures all EPA rules and regulations pertaining to refrigeration and air conditioning systems outlined in 40 CFR Part 82 Sub Part F. Interpret diagrams, drawings, technical manuals, and other instructions for air conditioning equipment, building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings and use trade formulas. Maintain and troubleshoot a variety of complex electrical systems and equipment such as series, parallel, and compound circuits for single and multiple phase alternating current of varying voltage, amperage, and frequency; wiring systems in industrial complexes and in buildings; and power or regulating and control circuits and distribution panels to industrial machinery, computers, clean rooms or other electrical equipment. Use tools and equipment to include sliding squares, measuring tapes, grinders, power tools, cutters, pipe wrenches, volt, amp, ohm meters, thermometers, torches, computers, manometers, airflow measuring equipment, vacuum pumps and various hand tools. Utilize air balance principles and equipment to rebalance VAV’s, Phoenix valves, dampers, and fan coil units for office, animal rooms and laboratories throughout the facility as required. Performs work in bio-containment suites (BSL-3 and BSL-4) in the presence of highly hazardous infectious agents and toxins and is required to participate in Bio-surety Personnel Reliability System and Formaldehyde Program. Work within the Formaldehyde program include clearing airlocks and penthouse spaces after decons as well as airlock washdowns. Assures that work assignments, procedures, sequence, methods, and deadlines are completed on time. Responsible for independently planning and carrying out the assignment based on an understanding of the purpose and use of the end item. May be required to work on second or third shift with little notice and will serve as an on-call technician for one-week periods during regular shop rotations. Mechanic must be able to be contacted and respond to emergency for after-hour calls during the on-call periods within one hour. Other duties as assigned by supervisor. REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: MD: Master HVAC License (Unlimited) OR currently hold a journeyman HVAC license or higher level with the required experience to obtain a Master HVAC license including: Licensed as a journeyman and regularly and principally employed to provide all areas of HVACR services for at least three (3) years of active experience under the direction and control of a HVACR master.
