Position Summary: A Respiratory Therapist (CRT) assists respiratory therapists with preparing for and providing patient care. Delivers routine therapy as delegated by a therapist. Responds to codes and calls for emergent assistance. Assesses patient condition and delivers appropriate treatment. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition. Educates the patient and family about the patient's illness and provides information about community support groups and other resources. Monitors, receives, stocks, and distributes respiratory care supplies and medical gas cylinders. Maintains storage areas with required supply levels and equipment. Disassembles, cleans, and sterilizes equipment, and performs preventative maintenance and calibration of machines. What we're looking for: High School Diploma/GE or Associate Degree in Science required Current Respiratory Therapist Licensure to practice in the state of Kentucky. Three or more years of previous experience in all aspects of cardiopulmonary services preferred. Current American Heart Association BLS certification or obtained within 90 days of hire date. Current American Heart Association ACLS certification or obtained within 90 days of hire date Current American Heart Association PALS certification or obtained within 90 days of hire date. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies procedures quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations. Assesses the physical psychosocial spiritual & cultural dimensions of the patient as well as educational needs and appropriately documents. Performs all respiratory therapy treatments and services including but not limited to: application operation monitoring and management of all equipment and services provided. Service to include but not limited to: oxygen mixed gas and humidity; monitoring; ventilators (Invasive and Non-invasive); bronchial hygiene; lung expansion; Spirometry testing; EKG machines; Blood Gas Analysis. Employs principles of therapeutic communication interviewing techniques problem solving and crisis intervention when performing patient care. Reviews electronic medical records and physician orders throughout work shift. Responds performs and participates in cardiopulmonary resuscitation by maintaining the airway providing oxygen and ventilation via mask endotracheal tube or other devices and performs closed chest cardiac massage. Facilitates workflow efficiency monitoring interdepartmental systems and processes departmental policies and procedures and making recommendations for improvements as needed.
