Details Work in the Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) of a hospital setting 15-bed unit with an average daily census of 10 patients Patient ratios range from 1:1 up to 1:3 for stable, lower acuity patients Adult and geriatric patient population with diagnoses including cardiogenic shock, heart failure, MI, arrhythmias, and advanced cardiac therapies Performs and assists with bedside central/A-line insertions, bronchoscopy, chest tube insertion, Swan/PA cath insertion, targeted temperature management, and CRRT Uses specialized equipment including Impella, VAD, IABP, CRRT, ventilators, cooling devices, and CCO monitors Rotating day/night shifts, 3x12-hour schedule (07:00-19:30 or 19:00-07:30), 36 hours per week Every other weekend required Floating required within specialty to lower acuity units as needed On-call requirements to be confirmed with facility Epic EMR experience required Requirements Active RN license (MD state or Compact) required at time of consideration Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, CPI, NIHSS (AHA-issued BLS/ACLS) CCRN certification preferred Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience required Charge nurse experience preferred Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, central/PICC line care, and blood product administration Experience with ACT, PT/PTT, INR, and isolation precautions/PPE Renal care experience including CRRT/CVVHD and AKI management preferred Respiratory skills including ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and chest tube assistance required Cardiovascular specialty skills including IABP, Impella, CABG, TAVR, and epicardial pacing wire care preferred Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips required Comfortable administering continuous IV sedation and emergency medications First-time travelers accepted if they demonstrate strong CVICU skill and experience Additional Information Provide critical care nursing to complex cardiovascular patients, including those on mechanical circulatory support and advanced therapies Navy blue scrubs required Holiday coverage required as scheduled Travelers are expected to float within their specialty with no restrictions Must reside 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rate unless otherwise stated Returning staff must be separated from the health system for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler Returning travelers must have a 6-month break from the system before starting a new assignment Maximum 7 days of requested time off, with additional week required on the back end for requests longer than 4 consecutive days First-time travelers welcome to apply American Traveler Job ID P-750172.
