Assistant Professor of Clinical Surgery/Physician Surgeon

The Dept of Surgery, at the Univ of IL Chicago, located in a large metropolitan area, is seeking full-time Assistant Professor of Clinical Surgery/Physician Surgeon to assist the dept w/ the following responsibilities: Under direction & supervision, teach, train, & advise medical students, residents, & fellows in the field of surgery & robotic surgery; Conduct curriculum development; Provide clinical care to underserved patient population, using new technologies in diagnosis &treatment of lung cancer; Execute interventional robotic bronchoscopies & conduct robotic surgery in the chest & upper GI (esophagus, stomach); Conduct research in field & participate in committee assignments & administration as needed; Other duties & University service as assigned. No travel is required for this position. This position minimally requires MD degree or foreign equivalent, 6 yrs general surgery residency training, & a valid State of Illinois medical license or eligibility for an IL med license. The ideal background would include strategic sourcing experience within capital projects, facilities, real estate, or construction procurement for large organizations. This is a people leadership role, managing a team of 4–5 individuals focused on category management. The role emphasizes enterprise procurement of construction services (not materials) supporting large scale capital programs ($3B–$4B). Led and supervised teams of Sourcing Supervisors, Category Leaders, and Sourcing Specialists to drive sourcing and procurement objectives.
