Senior Director, Enterprise Search Platform & Strategy (Chicago)

As a Senior Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate Sector, within Enterprise Technologies, you will be accountable for leading the technical design and strategy, roadmap and execution of a firmwide enterprise search. You will lead the specification and definition of search; driving definition and specification of crawl, rank, indexation and priority, and in partnership with product, design, and data teams, you will improve the discoverability of content across an omni-channel portfolio of web, app and chats. Enterprise search is a cornerstone of content discoverability and it’s a rapidly evolving landscape, particularly with the introduction of LLMs and Gen AI. You will have immediate opportunity to harmonize the enterprise search experience and improve content rank relevancy. Job responsibilities Carries governance accountability for coding decisions, control obligations, and measures of success such as cost of ownership, maintainability, and portfolio operations Partner with Product and Experience Leads to reimagine search experience and develop strategy for an enterprise-wide search product, delivered as a flexible component to domain products, that drives a consistent and cohesive search experience, and delivers relevant and personalized results of content (knowledge, communications and marketing) and actionable widgets. Provide visionary leadership to the engineering team(s), fostering collaboration and high performance. Deliver on organizational vision and objectives with high quality and time to market. Partner with stakeholders to assess search landscape for NextGen based on evolving industry trends, and customer and business needs. Provide coaching and mentoring for engineers of all levels, with focus on organizational maturity and culture of excellence. Leads technology and process implementations to achieve functional technology objectives and provide technical leadership with hands-on engineering. Partner with Content product and engineering to ensure content is developed per standards and stored appropriately (content corpus) to be effectively findable for answer generation model and traditional search results. Partner with Product Lead to develop insights to drive product strategy decisions. Partner with cross-functional products to adopt search components across all domains in a cohesive, quality and intuitive experience. Champions the firm’s culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills Proven experience as Engineering Lead, hands-on Software Engineering Manager, or similar role Proficient with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent Hands on experience leading a product as a Product Owner or Product Manager Expertise in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field Innovative and creative leader with previous experience in developing large-scale platforms and search solutions Experienced organizational leader, who is passionate about building effective and empowered teams Strong business acumen and consumer-grade mindset Extensive knowledge of the engineering best practices, technical design and product development lifecycle Proficient with SEO and proven track record Practical experience driving change within organizations and managing stakeholders across multiple functions.
