Details Work in the Endoscopy department of an academic teaching hospital Inpatient and outpatient endoscopy settings including pediatric endoscopy cases Day/evening 8-hour shifts with rotating start times between 6:30am-10:30am Weeknight call requirement with possible need to stay past shift end to complete the day's schedule Floating required as needed Performs moderate sedation and pre/post care including PACU Phase I and Phase II recovery Utilizes RN-driven sedation assessment approach managing patients within targeted sedation range based on Ramsay Sedation Scale Recovers patients from sedated GI and pulmonary procedures including ERCP, EUS, EGD, colonoscopy, endoscopy, and bronchoscopy Some patients receive general anesthesia rather than moderate sedation Uses Epic EMR Requirements Active WI RN license or compact RN license required Current AHA ACLS and BLS certifications required CGRN certification preferred 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in GI/Endoscopy specialty required Academic Level I trauma center or similar size hospital experience required Epic EMR experience required, ideally within the past 12 months Teaching hospital experience required Prior travel nursing experience required, though high acuity/Level I experience may be considered in lieu Skilled in administering and monitoring conscious sedation, airway management, and recovery from monitored anesthesia care sedation Experience with 12-lead EKG/ECG, IV starts and maintenance, and medication administration including opioid analgesics, Propofol, Versed, and reversal agents Must be highly skilled in sedation including bronchoscopy sedation Additional Information Must pass a telemetry exam with strict passing criteria prior to starting the assignment Adult exam requires 100% identification of lethal rhythms and no more than one incorrect answer on 3rd degree heart block questions, with an overall passing score of 80% or higher Pediatric exam requires identification of specified rhythms with a passing score of 80% or higher Two attempts allowed for telemetry testing; a failed second attempt requires completion of a cardiac interpretation review course before a third attempt is granted Assignment will be cancelled if telemetry exam is not passed after three attempts Experience with equipment such as ERBE units, bronchoscopy carts, dilators, electrosurgical units, forceps, lithotripters, and polyp snares Performs procedures including circulate and scrub roles, esophageal varices banding, and sclerotherapy Must reside within 50 miles of the facility to be eligible; local candidates not accepted References are not required for consideration American Traveler Job ID P-749450.
