The CVSU (Cardiovascular Surgical Unit) specializes in providing concentrated care and management for patients with severe cardiac, vascular, and thoracic disorders. We focus on invasive hemodynamic monitoring, cardiovascular surgery implementation of mechanical support. CVSU provides post anesthesia care to cardiovascular patients who have received general anesthesia. The CVSU serves critically ill patients 18 years or older. Patients admitted to this unit may be receiving treatment for a variety of cardiac related but not limited to Cardiogenic Shock Aortic Dissection Mechanical Circulatory Support ECMO, VA,VV, VAV, RVAD and LVAD Cardiac Tamponade Post Open Heart Surgery CVSU is available to provide 24/7 care The CVSU is a diverse group of professional staff who have received advanced education and competency in the domain of cardiothoracic services. All new admissions to CVSU are assigned to ONE RN so that each nurse can devote attention to the care of the patient until critical elements are achieved. Staffing patterns are adjusted based on the changing acuity and nursing requirements for the patient. Primary Responsibilities: Demonstrates effective and ethical use of approved evidence-based palliative medicine practices in the delivery of all patient care based on physical, emotional, spiritual, psycho/social, ethical, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the ages of patients served Demonstrates knowledgeable clinical expertise by incorporating palliative care body of knowledge to formulate an effective plan of care Gathers pertinent information systematically from all sources, including medical records, family history, and caregivers, and thorough specialty physical, emotional, psychosocial, and spiritual clinical patient assessment Completes a comprehensive assessment utilizing the palliative care domains of assessment, interprets findings, conducts medication reconciliation, and formulates problem-related diagnoses, initiates plan of care utilizing therapeutic interventions, and evaluates the results of these actions for adequate outcome responses ACHPN certification encouraged after 2 years of employment or when experience requirements are met You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in. Required Qualifications: RN/APRN licensure in state of practice Nurse Practitioner/CNS with prescriptive authority BCLS licensure Current CPR certification 5 years of clinical nursing experience Driver's License and access to reliable transportation Preferred Qualifications: Advanced practice palliative care certification (ACHPN) 1 years as APRN in Hospice, Palliative Care, or Oncology Compensation for this specialty generally ranges from $105,758 - $158,638. Total cash compensation includes base pay and bonus and is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience and may increase over time based on productivity and performance in the role.
