The Category Insights Senior Manager is responsible for driving strategic initiatives through comprehensive category and product analysis for Del Monte Foods. This person provides category management deliverables to the field Category Insights team, with an emphasis on actionable category and shopper insights that drive the business for our customers and Del Monte. The position is Del Monte’s go-to category management expert, providing in-depth category, consumer, and shopper expertise to the commercial organization. Key responsibilities include working with BU managers to provide a retail customer lens to new and existing products and categories, creating selling stories for new and existing brands, leading Del Monte’s shelving and space management agenda, and providing category information and materials to educate and inform the commercial team on our category and brand performance. This leader is an essential member of the commercial team in charting a path for commercializing Del Monte’s brands and the categories in which we operate. The incumbent is highly collaborative, works successfully with cross functional team members, is solution-oriented and decisive, acts with urgency, and is particularly strong in storytelling and data visualization. This leader also has proven strengths in strategic thinking, communication, project planning, and in leading others and gaining enrollment. Accountabilities: Category Analysis : Conduct in-depth analysis of market trends, consumer buying behavior, and competitive landscapes within Del Monte’s categories. Insights Generation : Utilize data analytics to generate actionable insights to inform product development, marketing strategies, and overall business decisions. Sales Support : Create stories that enable the successful selling of new and existing items across all retail channels. Strategic Planning : Contribute to the development of long-term category strategies by providing data-driven recommendations and identifying growth opportunities. Lead all space and shelving strategies for Del Monte’s categories. Market intelligence : Inform and educate the commercial team on category and brand performance during key promotional windows and events to aid Del Monte’s planning and selling efforts. Shopper Insights : Identifies insights from consumer and/or shopper behavior and translates their implications into retailer action that grows sales. Education : Actively engages in educating others (up, down, across and outside organization) by sharing best practices and insights so that our successes are broadly repeated. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Skills Required: BA/BS required. Certification through the Category Management Association is a plus (CPSA, CPCM). 7 years of industry or relevant experience. Advanced computer proficiency in Retailer POS, Syndicated and Panel data, Microsoft Excel, Circana and/or Nielsen IRI, and proficiency in PowerPoint as well as other Microsoft Office applications. Experience in utilizing shopper card data systems such as EYC, Stratum, Dunnhumby, and others. Excellent analytical, interpretive, and problem-solving skills. Excellent data visualization and storytelling capabilities. Working knowledge of space management software. Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as strong interpersonal skills. Strong problem-solving orientation with the ability to ack quickly, think creatively, and support key stakeholders. Creative thinker with ability to communicate and present ideas.
