Chooses appropriate transducer and disinfects used medical equipment per policy. Will adhere to safety standards set forth by the organization in accordance with ACR guidelines. The technologist will explain the procedure and the function of the equipment to the patient as well as answer any questions the patient may have, will intently review the medical history prior to starting procedure, check patient record for previous pertinent information or procedures, contact radiologist when direction is needed, document appropriate information in the patient record/PACS system. Performs requested US exams of appropriate regions in accordance with accepted standards of practice and protocols of the organization and the reading radiologist. Observes patient during procedure, reports unusual occurrences and records patients' condition when necessary. Lifts, moves, and transports patients via wheelchair or cart when necessary. Transfers, maintains basic quality assurance issues and recalls images from PACS system. Performs equipment quality checks and troubleshoots when appropriate. Reports any need for service or repair to appropriate leadership. Participates in ongoing QA/QC and process improvement programs. Assists in providing a safe work environment and is dedicated to providing patient satisfaction. Maintain continuing education credits in compliance with licensing agency. Maintains clinical competency. Adheres to all hospital and departmental policies and procedures including, but not limited to, those regarding infection control, hand hygiene, attendance, and appearance.
