Job Description Job Description & Requirements \n \nThoracic Oncology Faculty Physician\n \nStartDate: ASAP Pay Rate: $325000.00 - $425000.00 \n \n \n Tufts Medical Center seeks an experienced Thoracic Oncologist to join its academic cancer program in Boston . This position offers the opportunity to deliver specialized care, help expand a growing thoracic oncology program, teach the next generation of physicians, and pursue meaningful clinical research. The incoming physician will work alongside experts in thoracic surgery, radiation oncology, pulmonary medicine, pathology, and other disciplines to advance coordinated, patient-centered care. \n \n The role can be structured around thoracic malignancies and translational or Phase II and III research, or around Phase I investigation with a thoracic disease focus. Qualified candidates may receive dedicated research time based on their experience and academic interests. \n \n Opportunity Highlights \n \n Join a collaborative academic environment committed to excellent, highly personalized patient care \n Help grow a thoracic oncology program supported by a pulmonary nodule clinic and computed tomography-based lung cancer screening program \n Care for patients with a broad range of non-esophageal thoracic malignancies \n Participate in weekly multidisciplinary tumor boards and contribute expertise to treatment planning \n Collaborate with thoracic surgery, radiation oncology, pulmonary proceduralists, and expert pathology colleagues \n Access comprehensive clinical trial support through the Neely Center for Clinical Cancer Research, including regulatory specialists, research nurses, and coordinators \n Pursue a thoracic-focused translational or Phase II and III research pathway, or a Phase I pathway with a thoracic disease focus \n Receive dedicated research time based on qualifications, experience, and research focus \n Teach fellows, residents, and medical students in outpatient and inpatient settings \n Practice primarily at Tufts Medical Center’s main campus in Boston, with opportunities to build connections across the regional system \n \n Practice Structure \n \n The outpatient practice includes 5 half-day clinic sessions each week. Fellows participate in most clinics, creating an academically engaging model that supports point-of-care teaching and team-based care. The physician will also share inpatient oncology and consult coverage. First-year fellows take first call, while the service attending provides second-call coverage only during assigned service periods. \n \n \n Candidate Qualifications \n \n Board certification or board eligibility in hematology and oncology \n More than two years of independent thoracic oncology practice following fellowship \n Five or more years of thoracic oncology preferred \n Strong commitment to patient care, collaboration, teaching, and program growth \n Interest in clinical investigation, translational research, or Phase I through III trials \n Ability to qualify for an academic appointment through Tufts University School of Medicine \n H-1B visa sponsorship may be available; J-1 visa sponsorship is not available \n \n \n Community Information \n Boston combines internationally recognized medicine, higher education, history, culture, and urban amenities within a highly connected metropolitan region.
