Gas Operations is responsible for all aspects of PG&E's gas distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, restoration and emergency response. Position Summary This is an IBEW Local 1245 represented classification, which has over 100 years of experience representing employees at PG&E. This job is subject to collective bargaining. An employee who is a journeyman and without direct supervision is engaged in the technology associated with the installation, adjusting, testing, operation, maintenance and repair of mechanical, pneumatic, electrical and electronic gas measurement, instrumentation and control systems and all other equipment appurtenant to the operation of gas facilities. Employees must be able to work at elevated heights. Employees may be required to act in a lead capacity, supervising the work of other employees in lower classifications engaged in this work. Employee's background of apprenticeship and experience shall be such that these duties are performed with skill and efficiency. Background training and experience shall be such that an employee performs these duties with skill and efficiency. This position may be subject to Joint Apprentice Training Committee (JATC) review and approval at time of hire. Provisional hires will be required to participate in targeted training to achieve journey-level knowledge of the role and responsibilities. This position is a DOT (Department of Transportation) covered classification and is subject to random drug and/or alcohol screening. This position will be used to fill vacancies in the South region. The position headquarters in Kettleman subject to change based on business needs. PG&E is providing the hourly rate that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This position is subject to collectively bargained hourly wage rates and increases. The starting wage rate for this position is $69.14 hour. This wage rate is specific to the locality of the job. This position is subject to collectively bargained hourly wage rates and increases. The starting wage rate for this position is $37.56 per hour. This wage rate is specific to the locality of the job. The wage rate is based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity. Responsibilities * Under direction, performs duties substantially identical to those of a Design Drafter as training for advancement to such position * Works under direction from design studies, sketches, computations, or other data of moderate complexity * Performs, under direction, general drafting or mapping work of a moderately difficult nature frequently requiring a search for data and coordination of information * Does simple engineering computing work under direction Qualifications Minimum: * High School or GED-General Educational Development-GED Diploma * Two years of drafting training in high school and junior college or the equivalent in education and experience with a demonstrated drafting aptitude Desired: * Experience in drafting * Two years of drafting training or the equivalent in education and experience with a demonstrated drafting aptitude * Knowledge of MicroStation and/or AutoCAD software * Willingness to work in a radiation-controlled area * Competency in providing direction, delegating, and removing obstacles to get work done * Competency in relating openly and comfortably with diverse groups of people * Knowledge of engineering codes and standards as needed to perform at the job level * Ability to work independently with limited oversight * Ability to read and understand information presented in graphics, maps, schematics, or diagrams as needed to perform at the job level * Additional consideration may be given to candidates that reside within 50 miles of the headquarters Pre-Employment Testing * External and Hiring Hall applicants: Must qualify on the Physical Test Battery (PTB) and Technical Test (TECH) exams prior to interviewing * Internal PG&E employees: Must have qualified on the Physical Test Battery (PTB) exam prior to applying; must qualify on Technical Test (TECH) prior to interviewing PG&E Employees: You must have qualified on all prerequisite tests prior to submitting an application; and all secondary tests prior to interviewing.
