Procure and manage all necessary material on the project site to maintain progress of 3-week plan including maintenance of the clamshell Kanban system. Complete and submit daily reports (i.e. daily log, quantity log, progress photos) via the construction management system. Coordinate manpower (determined through 3-week plans) necessary to complete project on time and within budget. Maintain list of incomplete tasks. Identify, evaluate, and implement prefab opportunities. Safety Maintain a safe and healthy working environment. Ensure all craft workers receive safety training (i.e. weekly safety meeting). Coordinate safety inspections (i.e. monthly, quarterly assured grounding, temporary power, and ladder) and act to correct deficiencies as needed. Report injuries and near hits to Safety Coordinator immediately. Minimum Qualifications: Hold and maintain the state issued Master/Journeyman license requirements. Job Description Job Description Title: Heavy Equipment Mechanic Reporting Manager: Shop Manager Location: New Stanton, PA FLSA Status: Non-Exempt POSITION OVERVIEW: The Mechanic is responsible for the health and maintenance of all the Company equipment that is in service, to include pickups and all company heavy equipment (i.e., milling machines, reclaimers, skid steers, forklifts vehicles, etc.). The mechanic is responsible for maintaining production, quality and safety standards by ensuring the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: Above all, ensure that safe practices are followed in all aspects of daily activities. Read schematics, diagrams, blueprints, etc. to assist with repairs and/or diagnostics. Diagnose complex electric, hydraulic, and mechanical issues. Remove, replace, and repair major components of milling machines, skid-steer loaders, street sweepers, heavy and light trucks, etc. Perform routine maintenance services on heavy equipment. Perform repairs on-site in the field as needed. Actively communicate with the Shop Manager, other mechanics, operators, etc. to ensure repair and maintenance services are provided in a timely manner. Ensure part needs are communicated to Shop Manager to ensure proper inventory levels. Maintain ability to work overtime, nights and weekends particularly during the high season summer months. Maintain a safe and efficient workflow in the shop. Complete special projects as required. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: High School Diploma or equivalent. Prior Mechanic experience Experience and excellent knowledge of the repair and maintenance of heavy duty construction equipment; a minimum of 3 years of experience preferred. Experience with roto-milling and/or related equipment highly preferred. Ability to work long hours outdoors and will be on their feet all day while either walking or standing. Detail oriented, organized, and capable of working independently and efficiently in a high-pressure environment. Reasonable level of computer literacy. Valid driver license and acceptable motor vehicle record; CDL preferred. Knowledge of organizational and safety operations and procedures, safety methods and practices. Knowledge and understanding of Department of Transportation (DOT) and current OSHA rules and regulations and ensuring compliance with these guidelines. Ability to engage in heavy manual labor for extended periods, in all types of weather and under various working conditions. Demonstrated skills in the care and use of hand and power tools employed in all phases of heavy equipment mechanical maintenance and repair work. Able to read, write and communicate verbally in English. Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people and backgrounds. Ability to follow instructions in a verbal and written format. Ability to use good judgement and foresight. Ability to speak to others to convey information effectively. Ability to work overtime, nights and weekends particularly during the high season summer months. Ability to travel to job sites; ability to quickly and effectively diagnose and repair mechanical/maintenance issues. WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Occasionally works in an indoor office relatively free from environmental conditions or hazards. Must tolerate working environment with outside temperatures that include excessive heat, cold, wind, and precipitation. Must be able to work outside, around moving objects, vehicles, and machinery with moving parts. Must be able to push, pull and lift up to 75 pounds to an overhead position. Must be able to stand, walk, kneel, bend, and twist body. Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Must be able to use both hands and demonstrate good hand-eye coordination. Tolerance to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable. Potentially exposed to contaminants, such as dust or fumes from exhaust; frequent exposure to hazardous equipment. Occasionally work in very bright or very dim lighting conditions. Are sometimes exposed to hazardous situations that produce cuts or minor burns. Occasionally are exposed to whole body vibration, such as when using a jackhammer. May need to work in tight/confined spaces or work areas. Must be able to regularly wear personal protective equipment, including hard hats, safety goggles, safety vests and/or ear plugs. The Site Superintendent will be responsible for supervising all site activities, maintaining site safety as well as the project schedule. This individual will be tasked to proactively solve foreseeable problems as well as issues at hand. Work will be carried out as directed by the Project Manager and an open line of communication with the Project Manager is required to relay issues as well as update the progress of construction. Must be able to sufficiently coordinate subcontractor work and maintain HIVE Construction, Inc.'s quality of work while maintaining or exceeding the project schedule. This position is an immediate opening and HIVE Construction, Inc. is looking for an individual with the following prerequisites: JOB DESCRIPTION Complete daily logs at the end of each work day Provide progress photos on a weekly basis Develop the project schedule with the Project Manager and maintain 3 week schedules on a weekly basis Maintain site safety and hold subcontractors accountable to the same standards as HIVE Construction, Inc.
