Production Manager - AWD

The Production Manager will lead day-to-day manufacturing and distribution operations in alignment with the General Manager’s strategic initiatives and goals. The Production Manager will lead a team of Department Managers who are directly responsible for hourly team members performing production duties. The Production Manager will also demonstrate aptitude in utilizing lean and/or continuous improvement methodology to drive plant improvement. Essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Plan, lead, and manage complex, multi-shift production and distribution operations. Review and analyze production, quality control, and operational reports. Analyze quality issues and determine root cause to develop and implement corrective actions. Plan and direct production activities and establish priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors. Manage Department Managers via direct reports, annual evaluations, and mid-year reviews, providing positive recognition and corrective action as necessary. Promote safe work environment, including identifying safety hazards and performing timely follow-up on safety issues and corrections. Serve as a Safety Committee member and leader; ensure compliance with and champion all safety programs. Work with General Manager to set Production schedules and goals, report on behind-schedule departments, identify and remove obstacles to meet production completion and ship dates, and report on back-orders and measures being taken to resolve any related issues. Work with Human Resources on hiring practices of new employees and work with Department Managers to ensure following of hiring/transfer policy. Maintain consistency in adherence to established HR/employment policies in areas of responsibility. Work with Department Managers on training, motivating, and rewarding employees. Support company’s Open Door Policy and establish Employee Communication programs. Work with General Manager, Senior Engineering Manager, and Continuous Improvement Manager to evaluate factory performance and develop plan for Capital Requisitions and Continuous Improvement activities to reach current and future production goals. Work with teams to implement production changes to achieve current and future goals, tracking pertinent data/KPI to evaluate effectiveness. Work to achieve annual metrics, as determined by and with General Manager, to promote VT Industries’ reaching of annual goals. Job Title: Process Engineer Location: Allentown, PA 18106 Contract Duration: 6 months (possible extension) Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (Overtime before/after shift; weekend OT rare) Position Summary: The Process Engineer supports Engineering and Operations in a GMP‑regulated pharmaceutical packaging environment. The role leads technology transfers, manages capital equipment projects, integrates new automation, and drives continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, throughput, and quality. This is a client‑facing, fully on‑site role responsible for ensuring compliance, resolving complex equipment issues, and maintaining standardized, high‑performing operations. Key Responsibilities: · Lead technology transfer activities for new and existing client products, including documentation, qualification, and timeline alignment (client‑facing role). · Support and execute CAPEX projects from initiation through installation, commissioning, FAT/SAT, and validation. · Develop user requirements (URS), equipment specifications, and support vendor reviews and evaluations. · Integrate new production equipment and automation to increase throughput and reduce manual processes. · Collaborate with Operations to identify and resolve workflow bottlenecks across packaging lines. · Conduct deviation investigations, CAPAs, and manage change control activities. · Author and approve technical documentation including SOPs, protocols, batch records, and validation documents. · Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and structured problem‑solving methodologies to drive continuous improvement. · Ensure full compliance with GMP standards, site safety practices, and organizational values. · Perform additional engineering duties to support operational and business needs. · Nice to have: Packaging experience (vials, syringes, kitting, serialization, packaging design). · Maintain strong on‑floor presence at the Allentown site (“boots on the ground”). Minimum Qualifications: · Bachelor’s degree in Packaging, Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or related field. · 3 years of engineering experience in a cGMP‑controlled environment (pharma or food preferred). · Experience with automated packaging, labeling, assembly, or bottling equipment. · Strong technical writing ability (URS, FDS, FMEA, FAT/SAT, commissioning protocols, SOPs). · Mechanical aptitude with hands‑on troubleshooting of packaging equipment. · Strong communication skills for cross‑functional and client‑facing interactions. · Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment. QUALIFICATIONS: 2 years of leadership experience in an industrial setting. Proven experience in providing high levels of customer service to internal and external customers. Ability to train, coach, and mentor warehouse associates. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) Strong organization and prioritizing skills. Ability to simultaneously perform multiple tasks. Ability to solve problems and make effective decisions in a fast-paced environment. Ability to manage budgets; read and interpret P&L statements; and prepare related management reports. Intermediate PC skills with knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to stand for a long period of time. Ability to safely operate material handling equipment as needed. Ability to work in a warehouse environment on concrete flooring and in varying temperatures. Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. The ability to make decisions, problem-solve, prioritize assignments, and direct the workforce in an ever-changing, warehouse environment.
