Call Details Typically, 2-4 calls per night ; 1-2 expected onsite call-ins. Patients Per Shift: Approx 1-5 Average Call Numbers per 24 Hours: 2-5 IP Physicians are not required to remain on-site while providing night or weekend call support but are required to round and discharge. When on call, physicians should only be on site for call-back hours while providing direct care. Physicians are required to provide supporting notes on their timesheet entries to verify call-back hours. Physicians must document on the timesheet the specific reason for the call-back and should have a description such that the note can be validated if an audit report was generated in an electronic health record. Telephone call and medical record reviews should not be considered on site call-back. Average onsite call-back hours expected: 2-4 hours per day Pt Consults Any on call questions/Transfers/Consult questions Expected amount of time spent on-site: If assignment is strictly 24-hour call: 2-4 hours per day of rounding, and remaining hours on-call with call-back.
