Remaining time can be telework or a combination of on-site and telework) Order Type: 6-month Job Description The Psychiatrist performs advanced psychiatric assessment work and reports directly to the SSLC Medical Director. Work involves conducting psychiatric activities, monitoring trends, diagnosing, and treating SSLC residents including children, adolescents, & adults. Administers quality and appropriate specialized psychiatric treatments, assessments, and procedures as needed. Reviews and analyzes system data to ensure treatment plans are individualized and decisions are made in conjunction with the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT). Ensures that the treatment plans are implemented as designed by providing consultation or training as needed to behavioral health and direct care staff. Attends weekly/monthly meetings and leads/chairs discussions to inform and create buy-in to necessary changes, and follows through on the implementation plans. Participates in Peer Review Committees for performance improvement as appropriate. Participates in or directs, as requested, any other clinically related committee that is formed for the SSLCs to recommend guidelines and standards of care in response to changes in the research literature, regulatory environment, or public health as requested by the facility Medical Director or state office Medical Services Coordinator. Plans, assigns, and guides the work of others in the process of the multi-disciplinary approach to resident care. May supervise others depending upon SSLC structure. Performs other duties relative to the position. Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Job Qualifications Must be licensed (unrestricted) as a medical doctor by the State of Texas and be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry in the State of Texas. Must have a current unrestricted registration certificate from the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA). Must possess a National Provider Identifier (NPI) as defined by Medicare Part B and enroll as a Medicaid and Medicare Part B provider.

Work involves direct delivery of clinical practices and monitoring of medical services, participating in the treatment team process, advocating for the medical needs of personal service, and working with the individual's families, Family Nurse Practitioners, and with consultants, and community medical providers in other medical specialty areas This position reports directly to the Administrative Medical Director of the State Supported Living Center and works under limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. May be required to return to campus from time to time when on call, mainly on weekends. Consulting with patients to understand their symptoms and health concerns Diagnosing and treating acute illnesses, such as bacterial and viral infections, as well as chronic diseases and conditions, such as hypertension, heart disease, or diabetes. Prescribe and administer medication, therapy, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury. Explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments with patients. Compliance with HHSC and facility documentation timeframe requirements. Provides and monitors facility Standard Operating Procedures to meet standards for compliance with accrediting agencies; specifically, Medicaid Medicare guidelines, CMS Standards, DSSLC Policy and Directives, and HHSC Standards, Rules, and Directives. Must have current registration All certifications must be current and remain as such while providing services at the Denton State Supported Living Center On-Call Note: This position requires you to work on-call (after-hour call) one night during the weekday, and one weekend a month generally call days may be slightly more or less from time to time. May be required to return to campus from time to time when on call, after hours mainly on weekends. On-Call: On-Call is defined as being immediately available by phone and can arrive at the facility within as little as 30 minutes of being called in if needed. Evening Call: On-call from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 a.m. of the following day, Flat Rate; Applies to any day of the week including Fri-Sat-Sun. Weekend 24-hour On-Call: On-call from Saturday 8:00 a.m. until Sunday 8:00 a.m. or Sunday 8:00 a.m. until Monday 8:00 a.m.; Flat Rate for a 24-hour period. Call Back: Is needed back at the facility after hours in case of emergency but is not on call: Includes all types of callbacks including holidays and weekends.
