The unit’s high patient turnover provides nurses with broad experience caring for diverse and higher-acuity patient populations, including ICU-level patients. In the Cardiovascular Short Stay Unit, patients recover from conscious sedation procedures such as cardiac catheterizations and electrophysiology interventions, typically requiring less than a 23-hour stay with telemetry monitoring as needed. The unit also prepares patients for kidney, liver, heart, and lung transplants. In the Post Anesthesia Care Unit/Cardiac Accelerated Recovery Unit, patients recover from general anesthesia following cardiac, thoracic, vascular, and electrophysiology procedures.
