The VA St. Louis Health Care System is currently seeking a full-time BC/BE Internal Medicine physician for a staff primary care physician opportunity at our John Cochran VA Medical Center in mid-town St. Louis, MO. You will provide primary care to a panel of patients and must promote, maintain and nurture positive relationships with the goal of efficient healthcare delivery where each team member works at the top of his or her practice. You must also be attentive to patient education and preventive care and be able to work well in an interdisciplinary team to provide high quality primary care. Duties include: Some inpatient coverage: inpatient coverage for approximately 2 months per year, usually in 2-week blocks of tiem. When providing inpatient coverage, you will be expected to make inpatient rounds on Saturday and Sunday mornings and take beeper call at night You will be asked to supervise medical students and residents in the outpatient and inpatient areas Managing chronic conditions, evaluating and treating intercurrent medical conditions Collaborating with a Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) to provide accessible, comprehensive, coordinated, continuous care to an assigned panel of patients Performing a variety of disease prevention related activities including gender and age specific screenings (e.g. breast and colo-rectal cancer), mental health screenings (e.g. depression, substance use& abuse, military sexual trauma and PTSD) and health promotion activities including immunizations, weight management and exercise counseling Screening for, evaluating and treating uncomplicated common mental health disorders, including depression and common addictions, with referrals made to mental health providers for further evaluation and treatment as appropriate Performing common outpatient & office-based procedures Performing preliminary interpretation of common diagnostic tests including EKG and plain x-ray films ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Licensure: Any full and unrestricted license from any US State or Territory is sufficient to work at any VA Medical Center. The Dorn VA Medical Center located in Columbia, SC is seeking an experienced Vascular Surgeon with endovascular skills to join their dynamic healthcare team. The Vascular Section consists of two vascular surgeons, rotating general surgical residents, mid-level providers, and an RN nurse case manager. Endovascular procedures have been performed in the past in our facilities operating room in conjunction with Interventional Radiology. Our facility has just completed two state of the art interventional suites in our cardiology service. Additional capacity to perform endovascular procedures will be supported in the cardiology suites. The cardiology clinic also includes a fully capable vascular lab that is staffed by cardiologists, radiologists, and a vascular surgeon. Currently, the vascular call schedule is combined with general surgery. Flexibility exists for the vascular surgeons to maintain a vascular only call with no general surgery responsibilities. Duties include but are not limited to: As a Vascular Surgeon working in the Surgery Service, you will: - Be responsible for initial evaluation and overall workups, history and physicals, and admission of vascular surgery patients as needed - Be responsible for providing patients with education concerning their disease state and expected treatment regimen. Physician ensures VA directives and policies are in place and followed; assist in reducing the surgical and electronic wait lists for the facility (and regional network as appropriate); assist in administrative duties, as assigned; and assist in other needs of the facility as requested and commensurate with training and skills.
