As a Psychiatrist: The inpatient Psychiatrist provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluations of primary and secondary psychiatric disorders and assesses the contribution of comorbid medical illness and addictions in an inpatient setting. A Psychiatrist collaborates closely in treatment planning with other psychiatry clinic staff involved in patient s care. Use a variety of methods to evaluate a patient, such as interviewing the patient, their family or other persons. Develop a treatment plan according to the needs of the patient s needs and the extent of emotional, social, cognitive, developmental, or behavioral disorder. Treat a patient using psychotherapeutic methods and medication, monitoring the effects of any medication, and adjusting treatment where necessary. Consult with the patient s Primary Care Physician, nurses, or other health care providers. Provide crisis intervention when needed. Write and maintain patient and clinical records, including the type of treatment and medication administered. Keep up to date with professional job knowledge by reading publications, attending educational conferences, or maintaining professional networks. A psychiatrist complies with all policies and procedures, especially as pertains to professional conduct, confidentiality, infection control and safety, and treats all patients and staff with courtesy, compassion, and competence. Successful candidates will have the following: Board certified/eligible for certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology at initial appointment, and Board certified by the next re-appointment cycle (2yrs). Unrestricted licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Current Federal Drug Enforcement Administration and state registration for Massachusetts to prescribe controlled substances.
