Ride Mechanic

Overview: We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Amusement Ride Mechanic to join our team. In this full-time role, you will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of amusement rides and related equipment to ensure optimal performance and guest safety. Responsibilities: Conduct routine inspections (daily, weekly, monthly, annual, and as required) of rides and equipment, using both visual and auditory assessments to identify issues and perform corrective actions promptly. Support other maintenance activities and projects as assigned by leadership. Qualifications: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required. Valid state driver’s license. 2–4 years of verifiable experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in an industrial or amusement park setting. Solid understanding of basic mechanical principles, including gear ratios, torque, proper use of hand tools, and mechanical terminology. Familiarity with power transmission components such as bearings, bushings, couplers, and shafting. Demonstrated knowledge of pneumatic and/or hydraulic systems; proficiency in both is preferred. Overview: The Train Engineer assists in the safe operation and maintenance of Steam Locomotives and other railroad equipment as required to support the activities of a large amusement facility. Train Engineers will also conduct routine track work and repairs. Salary Details: $20.00 / hr Responsibilities: Ensures guest safety by assisting guest with boarding, riding, and disembarking the locomotive and passenger cars. Learns, adheres to and enforces all train rider policies and procedures. Completes daily, weekly, monthly, and annual inspection of railroad rolling stock, tracks, and related equipment, providing documentation as required. Performs routine maintenance and lubrication of railroad rolling stock, tracks and related equipment, providing documentation as required. Under the direction of a mechanic, assists with various repairs and preventative maintenance duties as needed to maintain proper operation of equipment. To perform journeyman level welding, machining, and fabrication of metals and special alloys to maintain, repair, design, and modify rides, vehicles and construction related items; and to construct specialized devices, parts and structures as requested. Salary Details: $28.64 / hr - $37.24 / hr Responsibilities: Machinist duties include setting up and operating conventional, special-purpose and numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers. Fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts and fitting/assembling machined parts into complete projects, parts or units. Applying knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, machinability of materials, and layout techniques: Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements. Measures, marks, and scribes’ dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining. Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines, such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers. Must be able to determine proper welding techniques for various alloys; operating and maintaining metal-removing machines, metal forming equipment, machine tools and a variety of welding devices. Lay out, fit, and fabricate metal components to assemble structural forms, such as machinery frames, bridge parts, and pressure vessels, using knowledge of welding techniques, metallurgy, and engineering requirements. Includes analyzing engineering drawings and specifications to plan welding operations where procedural information is required or unavailable. Facility Carpenter

Overview: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Facilities Carpenter to join our maintenance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of carpentry tasks to maintain and enhance the park's facilities and structures. Responsibilities: Perform routine and preventive maintenance on park facilities, including buildings, rides, and attractions. Construct, repair, and install structures and fixtures such as doors, windows, cabinets, and furniture. Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine project requirements. Overview: Executes the daily operation, ongoing maintenance, installation and annual projects assigned for the Utilities Plumbing Department. Maintains boilers, bathrooms, sinks, kitchen equipment, drains, lift stations, grease traps, and other related equipment as required to support a large amusement facility. Ensures that the steam plant (boiler) is providing necessary steam to food preparation locations. Ensures that all installations, repairs, and maintenance are properly sized, aligned, supported, and at specified grade by AWWA standard and meets all standards of health, building and safety guidelines, and codes. Assists in parts ordering and maintaining inventory of parts and equipment to anticipate needs, while keeping within budget guidelines. Interacts with and communicates with various groups and individuals, such as the immediate supervisor, other Park managers and staff, co-workers, guests, vendors, contractors, inspectors, etc. Provides guest service according to Cedar Fair standards when serving the guest, including initiating guest interactions, answering questions, and giving directions. Maintains cleanliness and safety in assigned work area and performs all duties in compliance with Cedar Fair safety guidelines and requirements and reports all unsafe or unusual conditions to supervisor. Meets scheduling availability requirements, including nights, weekends and holiday periods to meet business needs. Ability to pass a background check, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial law. Must be able to read blue prints and schematics, technical manuals and diagrams, and policy and procedure manuals. Ability to wear personal protective equipment including steel toed shoes. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Good knowledge of plumbing regulations. Good skills in handling plumbing tools and equipment (pipe wrenches, pipe cutters, plungers etc.). Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Good verbal and written communication skills. Education: High school graduate or equivalent. Related degree or vocational training preferred. License or Certification: Ability to obtain Journeyman Plumbing Certification if required. Valid driver’s license. Canada: Trade license or equivalent depending on trade. Experience: Typically requires 2-4 years of plumbing experience. Equivalency: Directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience and/or competencies may be considered in place of the above requirements.

SpringHill Suites Maintenance Technician

Overview: $18-19 per hour! As a Maintenance Tech you will be responsible for all building, pool and grounds maintenance of a new 130 room Springhill Suites hotel adjacent to Carowinds Amusement Park. You will also be responsible for safety and security within the building and grounds all while ensuring the guest are well cared for and have a memorable stay experience while visiting the Carolinas! You'll also: Maintains the hotel building and equipment and to ensure guest-rooms are in complete working order and public areas are free from unsightly maintenance blemishes.
