Job Description Job Description Job Title: Retail – Automotive Technician I Reports To: Marc McDonnell Location: Winston-Salem, NC Employment Status: Full Time FLSA Status: Non-Exempt This position has typical work hours Monday – Friday from 7:30AM – 5:30PM, Saturday 7:30AM – 4PM as needed Job Summary: The Automotive Technician I position will be based in a Retail Tire Center, at one of our Parrish Tire Branches. As a retail tire and general service technician, you will be required to perform a wide range of tasks from mounting tires to oil changes and general maintenance items that may include but are not limited to the key points in the following points. Essential Functions and Tasks: Mounting and balancing basic OE tires on passenger cars and light trucks Performing basic oil and filter changes on vehicles Accurate identification of the required oil and filter specifications Properly torquing wheels Resetting tire pressure monitoring system Flat tire repairs Assist in maintaining shop and grounds to safe work environment Following Tire Industry Association (TIA) safety procedures Any other duties as assigned by the store manager Qualifications: 1-2 years of experience in the tire/automotive industry Valid Driver’s License Must be able to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment Basic TIA Tire Service Certification preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Dependable - Employee must be reliable, responsible and trustworthy, and complete all assigned obligations. Attention to Detail - Employee must be thorough in completing tasks and must always be aware of potential safety issues. Required Physical Abilities: Physical requirements of this position may require a range of activities. These can include, but are not limited to: Lifting and carrying – the ability to lift and transport objects of specified weights, which may vary by job. For example, a job may require lifting up 25-50lbs regularly. Standing and walking – this position will require standing and walking for periods of time Bending and stooping – bending, stooping, or crouching are requiring to effectively preform essential duties of this position. Reaching and pushing/pulling – the ability to reach for items, push carts, or pull equipment will be necessary for daily activities. Sitting – there will be times this position will be needed to sit for prolonged periods of time. This position will also be required to operate certain machinery and other equipment safely. Work Environment: This position will require employees to work in certain weather conditions, such as heat, cold, as well as potentially confined spaces. Complex Repairs: Perform major engine and transmission overhauls, repair advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and manage sophisticated electrical/computer network issues (CAN bus). Documentation: Maintain accurate digital records of all work performed, including labor times, parts used, and detailed descriptions of diagnostic findings for warranty and customer transparency. Efficiency & Productivity: Maintain high "flat-rate" efficiency while adhering to all shop safety protocols and environmental regulations (hazardous waste disposal, etc.). Collaboration: Work closely with Service Advisors to provide accurate repair estimates and communicate additional service needs found during Multi-Point Inspections (MPI). Required Qualifications Experience: Must have experience in a professional automotive shop; previous dealership experience (specifically GM) is highly preferred. Certifications: ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certifications are required (L1 Advanced Engine Performance is a plus). GM Factory Training/Certification is a significant advantage.
