Senior Accountant
Volunteers of America Massachusetts (VOA Mass) is seeking a seasoned Senior Accountant to join our dedicated team of professionals. The Senior Accountant will play a pivotal role in maintaining the fiscal integrity and financial health of our organization, which serves to uplift and support the lives of veterans, the elderly, and individuals coping with mental health and substance abuse issues. This role involves comprehensive financial management, including the creation and analysis of financial reports, auditing, and compliance, as well as the management of financial systems. Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Conduct detailed analyses of financial data to inform budgetary planning and financial forecasting. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by researching existing and new legislation, consulting with outside advisors, and filing financial reports. Advise management on needed actions. Collaborate with external auditors to ensure correct and timely closing and reporting at year-end. Administer payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable to ensure timely and accurate payment and reporting. Develop and implement improvements to financial processes and controls. Liaise with department heads to support budget management and financial understanding across the organization. Strong expertise in GAAP and financial reporting. Proficiency in financial software and advanced Excel skills. Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently on completing financial tasks. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
