Senior Diabetes Educator

Job Requirements Job Summary Under limited supervision, leads, plans, and provides educational programs based on the individual needs of the patients and families. This role provides Diabetes Self-Management training (DSMT) and/or Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) for individuals with diabetes in both group and individual settings. The role collects, coordinates, and maintains the documentation for Diabetes Self-Management Education Outpatient Program and/or for the Self-Management Education Inpatient Program. The position works with the Clinical Director, Nurse Manager and other educators to maintain ADA/ADCES Recognition status, plan and conduct education programs for team members, patients, the community, dietetic interns and medical students as directed. Participates in the formulation of the goals and objectives for the Diabetes Center and coordinates departmental CQI and/or PI programs. Work Experience Education & Experience - Required Registered Dietitian : Bachelor’s degree in food and nutrition, Dietetics. Current licensure in the state of Maryland as a Dietitian/Nutritionist required. Four (4) years of clinical experience is required as a Registered Dietitian. Must have Specialty Certification as a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES). Maintenance of 30 CEUs/2 years. OR Registered Nurse: Bachelor’s degree in nursing (graduation from an accredited nursing education program approved by the Board of Nursing). Current Licensure in the state of Maryland as a Registered Nurse. Four (4) years of clinical experience is required as a Registered Nurse. Must have Specialty Certification as a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES). BLS Certification is required. Maintenance of 30 CEUs/2 years.
