Job Description Job Description Summary Pipefitter will assemble, install, maintain pipes and pipe systems according to blueprints and specifications. Qualification Requirements High School Graduate or G.E.D. Must have the ability to read, write, and communicate in English. 2 years of experience as a pipefitter or 3 years of experience as a pipefitter helper. NCCER required. TWIC required. Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License with minimal infractions. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Follows all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment. Accurately interpret and apply information from work orders, job orders, specifications, blueprints, ISO’s or other drawings and recognize basic blueprint terms and symbols for job application. Identify, recognize and demonstrate safe usage of power tools appropriate for the job, Recognize various materials used in piping systems and demonstrate a working knowledge of appropriate material handling techniques. Select and safely use appropriate equipment which may include (but not limited to) manlifts, forklifts, and company trucks. Demonstrate knowledge and skills in safe rigging practices. Identify, explain and perform crane hand signals. Demonstrate ability to accurately perform field measurements and sketches. Demonstrate knowledge and ability to use industry standards in dimensioning fabricated piping systems. Essential Functions Inspect, examine, and test installed systems and pipelines, using pressure gauge, hydrostatic testing, observation, or other methods. Plan pipe system layout, installation, or repair according to specifications. Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading. Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment, according to specifications, by welding, brazing, cementing, soldering, and threading joints. Cut, thread, and hammer pipe to specifications, using tools such as saws, cutting torches, and pipe threaders and benders. Physical Demands The heavy work demands will require up to 100 pounds of force to be exerted occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force to be exerted frequently, and up to 25 pounds of force to be exerted constantly to move objects. Work Environment Employee will work in all types of weather conditions and will also work in elevated positions.
