Job Summary and Qualifications Under the direction of the Chief Radiologic Technologist, the Director of Medical Imaging, and the Staff Radiologists, the Radiologic Technologist is responsible to safely and proficiently perform diagnostic imaging procedures and related patient care according to, government regulations, physician orders, policies and procedures of the Medical Imaging Department, and policies and procedures of the hospital. Reviews and completes appropriate paperwork on every patient as required including exam scheduling, physician orders, department logs, imaging records, consents, medical records, and patient charges. Has a good working knowledge of the Meditech computer system and responsibly completes exam ordering, exam completion entries, and exam and supply charging without reminders or supervision. Checks medical records on all inpatients and paperwork on all emergency room patients and outpatients to verify that the correct exam has been ordered. Verify with the patient their impression of procedure ordered. Checks armband of all inpatients and emergency room patients and verbally questions ALL patients to insure the presence of the correct patient before starting any procedures. Consistently verifies presence of and/or obtains informed consent on all patients who will receive contrast media injections. Completes form and all required documentation of procedure. Obtains Radiologist's verbal approval and/or signature prior to procedure if any contra-indicators are present. Properly assembles exam films, requisitions, and film file jacket before submission to radiologist for interpretation. Has appropriate information and/or films in hand before consulting a radiologist. Arrives to work on time on a daily basis and immediately begins job responsibilities without waiting for instructions or for others to arrive. Answers department phones promptly and consistently expresses a polite and helpful attitude on the phone.
