Hazardous Waste Technician - Rialto, CA
Job Summary Responsible for the safe handling, storage, transportation, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role not only involves hands-on activities but also requires a comprehensive understanding of waste management regulations, safety protocols, and environmental impact mitigation. Additionally, this position will develop, and lead waste minimization efforts individualized to the site. Job Description MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES Identify, non-hazardous, hazardous, and universal waste. Sort and pack waste in proper containers in compliance with DOT, EPA, RCRA, and local state regulations. Prepare all waste items for shipment prior to pickup. Record keeping – Maintain accurate records of waste generation, storage, and disposal activities. Utilize given waste software to log and categorize all waste containers onsite Compliance – Conduct weekly inspections of the hazardous waste storage area. Support environmental audits and any regulatory inspections. Assist with additional environmental requirements as needed Chemical response – Assist in chemical spill cleanup onsite and/or hazardous material incidents. Additional responsibilities include: Adhere to all safety and environmental regulations Provide support and guidance to smaller sites on waste related issues Assist with waste diversion efforts with QC/IC teams as able MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS Education High school diploma or equivalent Work Experience 1-3 years of experience in hazardous waste management 1-3 years of experience education others on complex and unfamiliar topics 1-3 years compliance experience with a focus on RCRA and DOT regulations as they pertain to hazardous waste Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Experience leading and coordinating hazardous waste area Assist in response and action plans to state and federal interventions as needed Conflict management and problem-solving skills Strong attention to detail and organization skills Capable of performing extensive amounts research and hazardous waste regulations at the state and local level Ability to effectively speak before groups of team members and customers of Medline Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Strong aptitude for web based software PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS Education Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, chemistry, or related field or equivalent experience. The anticipated salary range for this position: $23.25 - $33.75 Hourly The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s location, education, experience, skills, and abilities. Medline will not pay less than the applicable minimum wage or salary threshold.
