Job Description Job Description This Resource Float Pool RN will support our ICU service lines. Candidates should have experience caring for critically ill patients and be comfortable floating between multiple ICU environments. Resource Float Pool RNs may also be asked to support other areas throughout the hospital based on patient care and staffing needs. The Christ Hospital has three ICU specialties at our main Auburn Avenue campus, each offering unique patient populations and experiences: CVICU (28 beds): Focuses on high-acuity cardiovascular patients, including open heart surgery, heart transplants, ventricular assist devices, ECMO, Impellas, and advanced heart failure patients. SICU (14 beds): Cares for a diverse surgical population including neurology, neurosurgery, vascular, transplant, general surgery, and OB/GYN surgical patients. MICU (20 beds): Provides care for critically ill medical patients with diagnoses such as sepsis, respiratory failure, GI bleeds, heart failure, renal failure, and multi-organ dysfunction. All three ICUs emphasize teamwork, evidence-based practice, advanced critical care skills, exceptional patient outcomes, and strong interdisciplinary support. The practice of nursing requires specialized knowledge, judgment, and skills to provide care to groups and individuals. The RN utilizes knowledge derived from the principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. All care is provided based on the concepts inherent in the model of care for TCH which promotes an on-going partnership between patients and families and the team of healthcare providers. Candidates should have experience caring for critically ill patients and be comfortable floating between multiple ICU environments. Resource Float Pool RNs may also be asked to support other areas throughout the hospital based on patient care and staffing needs. The Christ Hospital has three ICU specialties at our main Auburn Avenue campus, each offering unique patient populations and experiences: CVICU (28 beds): Focuses on high-acuity cardiovascular patients, including open heart surgery, heart transplants, ventricular assist devices, ECMO, Impellas, and advanced heart failure patients. SICU (14 beds): Cares for a diverse surgical population including neurology, neurosurgery, vascular, transplant, general surgery, and OB/GYN surgical patients. MICU (20 beds): Provides care for critically ill medical patients with diagnoses such as sepsis, respiratory failure, GI bleeds, heart failure, renal failure, and multi-organ dysfunction. All three ICUs emphasize teamwork, evidence-based practice, advanced critical care skills, exceptional patient outcomes, and strong interdisciplinary support. The practice of nursing requires specialized knowledge, judgment, and skills to provide care to groups and individuals. The RN utilizes knowledge derived from the principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. All care is provided based on the concepts inherent in the model of care for TCH which promotes an on-going partnership between patients and families and the team of healthcare providers. Leadership & Professional Development - Working closely with your Clinical Manager, you will take an active role in driving improvement and achieving better outcomes through the development and evaluation of Performance Improvement (PI) initiatives. You'll be an advocate for High Reliability principles to enhance patient care and operational efficiency while using data to fuel progress. You'll also demonstrate your leadership skills by motivating, educating, delegating, and mentoring peers and team members, while managing patient care effectively. Qualifications Here are your additional requirements: Documentation - You'll accurately and concisely document the nursing process in the patient's electronic medical record, reflecting the implemented plan of care by the patient, family, and healthcare team. You'll also ensure timely documentation of care, updates, education, and the patient's and family's responses, in line with hospital policy. Unit specific certifications may be required. More about our CVICU unit: The Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) is a 16-bed cardiovascular recovery and intensive care unit. It is a fast-paced environment where state-of-the-art technology, nationally recognized standards of care and critical thinking skills are utilized by the all-RN staff to provide compassionate patient and family-centered care. Staff on this unit are highly proficient in pre-operative and intra-operative support as well as immediate post-operative phases of cardiovascular procedures. This includes open heart surgery, ventricular assist device implantation, and various interventional procedures including transcatheter aortic valve replacement. Acute cardiology and heart failure patients also receive care in CVICU, along with overflow medical and surgical intensive care patients. Staff expertly manage all types of invasive lines, medications, hemodynamic needs, intra-aortic balloon pumps, continuous dialysis and ultrafiltration machines, and various ventricular assist devices. The success of their nursing staff is their number one priority and is supported through their encouraging environment of comradery and mentorship.
