Job Description The Division of Rheumatology at Children’s Mercy Kansas City/ the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Medicine is seeking a full-time Pediatric Rheumatologist as we expand the academic and clinical profile of our program. Clinical responsibilities will include a focus on outpatient Amplified Pain Syndrome services. The Rehabilitation for Amplified Pain Syndromes (RAPS) Program provides multidisciplinary commitment from psychology, physical and occupational therapy, and social work. This intensive pain rehabilitation program is internationally recognized and provides care to children from across the country. We seek candidates who want to spend more time with patients, communicate well, and embrace patient and family centered care philosophy. Our rheumatologists specializing in amplified pain syndromes will provide training to the candidate. Ideal candidates will share our vision of enhancing quality clinical care and service delivery while working in a collaborative and stimulating scholarly environment with a commitment to academic endeavors including, but not limited to, trainee education, quality improvement, and/or clinical and translational research. Candidates must be fellowship-trained, board-eligible, or board-certified in Pediatric Rheumatology Children’s Mercy has more than 800 pediatric subspecialists and researchers who are actively involved in clinical care, pediatric research and educating the next generation of pediatric subspecialists. Our institution has proven its support for research through developing state-of-the-art programs in genetics, genomics, personalized pharmacology and health outcomes research. We continue to expand our institutional research capacity with the establishment of the Children’s Mercy Research Institute, and collaborative capabilities with colleagues at the University of Missouri – Kansas City and the University of Kansas. This unique opportunity focuses on broad cancer survivorship care as defined by the NCI. Survivorship begins at the point of diagnosis and continues through treatment and beyond. Survivorship care includes addressing the physical, mental, emotional, social and financial effects of cancer and cancer treatment. The Survivorship provider will address symptom management, risk reduction and lifestyle interventions for adult survivors of cancer. Working within a multi-specialty department with colleagues in cancer rehabilitation, behavioral health, geriatrics and more, professional opportunities include collaborations and co-treatment, including strong support from registered dietitians, social workers, and nurses.
