Overview A hospital in a southeast college town is seeking a BE/BC neurosurgeon to help develop a new elective practice free of significant trauma call responsibilities. This is a rare opportunity to join a practice of four established neurosurgeons that are currently providing 24/7 in house trauma and hospital care, and are seeking a fifth member to primarily provide elective care to the community. There is currently only one of the group members who will be providing significant elective care and one other neurosurgeon in the community with a catchment area of over 500,000. The new partner will have no problem developing a busy practice from day one as there is currently a large need in the community. This is a 500-bed anchor facility for a regional health system that serves 19 counties. It hosts a busy Level II Trauma Center, the only one in the region, and a 50-bed ICU with 24/7 intensivist coverage and a dedicated trauma service with 6 trauma surgeons providing in-house coverage. The hospital also has a well-established hospitalist service. The OR boasts Zeiss microscopes, including state of the art Kinevo and Stryker Navigation. Responsibilities and Scheduling Provide elective neurosurgical care as the primary focus of the new practice. Participate in daily rounding and care of elective post-operative patients during the week. Not expected to cover routine in-house trauma call; post-operative calls after hours, on weekends, and holidays would be covered by the in-house team.
