Accounts Payable Specialist

About Bold Coast Seafood Bold Coast Seafood operates a 100,000 square foot facility on the working waterfront of Prospect Harbor, Maine, built around a deepwater dock, a buying station, refrigerated tanks capable of holding over 200,000 pounds of lobster and crab, a state of the art processing floor, office space, and a research lab. We supply customers with high quality seafood harvested from the cold, clean waters of Maine, and we are currently expanding into a new business line: crab processing. We built this company on the belief that people do their best work when they feel good about where they work. We address problems directly, we expect people to bring solutions rather than just complaints, and we support each other, even on hard days. As we grow, we are looking for people who want to grow with us. About the Role Bold Coast Seafood is looking for a full-time Accounts Payable Specialist to support our Finance Manager as the company grows and ramps up crab processing alongside our established lobster business. Right now, accounts payable is being managed by our Finance Manager along with an Operations Specialist, but the company has outgrown that setup and needs someone dedicated to the role full time. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants real ownership of a function inside a small, fast-growing company. The workload will grow as the business grows, and as it does, there is a path for this person to help supervise others who join the finance, accounting, and office team and to be the backup for the Finance Manager. We expect the scope of this role to look different a year from now than it does on day one. We are looking for someone who is comfortable with that kind of growth, sees it as an opportunity, and brings a positive, problem-solving attitude to a workload that will expand along with the company. Are you looking to make an impact and grow? Join us! What You Will Do Manage day-to-day accounts payable, including entering, processing, and tracking invoices and payments in our ERP system (NetYield). Track expenses submitted and approved through our Microsoft-based purchase order and expense approval system. Support capital expense tracking and budgeting alongside the Finance Manager. Keep accounts payable records organized, accurate, and up to date, and help maintain clean documentation for costing and reporting. Serve as a reliable point of contact in the office, and be the person team members and vendors can turn to when the Finance Manager is unavailable. Bring a problem-solving mindset to a workload that will grow as the company grows, including crab processing coming online. As the team grows, help onboard and, over time, potentially supervise additional accounts payable or office support staff. What We're Looking For Several years of accounts payable or general accounting experience; five to ten years is ideal, though we will consider the right candidate with less. Strong working knowledge of Excel, along with general comfort in the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Outlook, etc.). Experience with an ERP or accounting system is helpful; prior experience with NetYield specifically is not required, since training will be provided. Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of a function, especially as workload and responsibilities grow over time. A positive attitude and strong problem-solving skills; no specific certifications, such as a CPA, are required. Ability to work full time, Monday through Friday, in our Prospect Harbor office. Location and Relocation This role is based on site at our Prospect Harbor, Maine facility. Nearby towns include Ellsworth (about 30 minutes away, with the closest grocery stores, shopping, and housing options), Bar Harbor (45 minutes to an hour away), and Bangor (about an hour away, home to the nearest airport). Benefits Medical, dental, and vision insurance (currently through Aetna). Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML), per Maine state requirements. A growing company where you can see the direct impact of your work and help shape processes as we scale.
