JOB SUMMARY Oversees the day-to-day operations of the Tooling Department machine shop, ensuring the timely fabrication of tooling to support production and maintenance activities. Provides leadership to machinists, communicates daily status updates, and ensures alignment with production schedules and customer needs. Responsible for supervising staff, leading daily tier meetings, and maintaining tool room equipment and operations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Execute direction to manage machine shop operations and guide personnel in alignment with production schedules. Administer material control activities, including inventory tracking, requisitioning, receiving, and proper storage of materials. Maintain and update shop production reports to reflect current status and priorities. Operate manual and CNC equipment, including milling machines, lathes, grinders, and other standard shop tools, to fabricate and assemble tooling. Read and interpret shop travelers, blueprints, and detailed drawings to ensure accurate fabrication. Use precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions and quality of completed work. Fabricate, assemble, deburr, clean, and label tooling projects using available shop equipment. Maintain machine shop equipment and ensure a clean, organized, and safe work environment to support continuous operations. Ensure tooling projects are properly labeled and delivered to customers within committed timelines. Enter and manage data within the tooling department job processing system. Validate employee timekeeping records in Kronos. Provide performance feedback to Manufacturing Engineering leadership for shop personnel evaluations, as requested. Support special projects and initiatives as assigned by the Manufacturing Engineering Manager. Ensure compliance with all safety requirements, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company security policies. JOB QUALIFICATIONS Strong working knowledge of machine shop operations, tooling fabrication, and machining practices. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and process documentation. Experience operating manual and CNC machining equipment. Proficiency using precision measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges). Basic computer skills and familiarity with shop management or job tracking systems preferred. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Effective communication and team leadership skills. Associate degree or equivalent industry or military experience. 3–5 years of experience as a tool and die machinist or in a similar machining role. Mastercam experience required. As the Lead EHS Engineer/Specialist, you will assist the Engineering, Manufacturing and EHS teams in the administration of the EHS department to ensure smooth operation of the team. Analyze and quantify risks and supports others through the development of solutions and programs that mitigate EHS risks, providing feedback and expertise. Participate in Job Safety Analysis (JSA). Describe ideal conditions (both Environmental and Health & Safety) and hold others accountable for determining and implementing appropriate solutions Lead development of site safety programs including forklift, machine guarding, confined space entry, x-ray equipment, accident investigation, lead awareness, respirator, hazard communication, lockout/tagout, and electrical safety, etc. Lead cross functional teams for incident investigations. Facilitate root cause analysis using tools such as fishbone diagram, 5Y, etc. Ensure that actions are entered into the incident management system (EHSIP) according to policy. Verify corrective actions are completed and sustained. Lead site hazardous waste management system including related documentation and training, proper labeling and handling, and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Lead recycling program to help identify waste reduction, reuse and recycling opportunities. Report greenhouse gas data through corporate carbon disclosure system. Maintain site environmental air and wastewater permits. Comply with all reporting and permit applications. Evaluate new chemicals to ensure current controls are adequate and to mitigate risk and work to identify lower risk chemicals if necessary. Function as the Environmental Management Representative during third party and customer environmental audits. Coordinate the emergency response program including ensuring training is developed and implemented. Work safely at all times and comply with Environmental Health and Safety standards and work practices along with all other work rules. How will you get here?
