Today, we have recruited highly-regarded surgeons and are able to provide state-of-the-art care in our operating rooms. The department has grown significantly adding skilled surgeons who bring specialized care to our communities. Our most recent initiatives include a minimally invasive surgery program, hepatobiliary and pancreatic program, and multidisciplinary breast center. All of our general surgeons handle routine cases as well as more complex procedures. Whenever possible, we use minimally invasive techniques to reduce the discomfort and recovery time of surgery. Many procedures can now be done on an outpatient basis with patients going home the same day. The Peri Anesthesia (PACU) RN is responsible for all aspects of care for perioperative patients in the preoperative phase and immediate post-operative phase through discharge. The Peri Anesthesia (PACU) RN manages all aspects of nursing care for patients in pre-anesthesia testing, Surgical Day Care and PACU. RN will do pre-admission, preop and PACU nurse duties. The Maternity Suite at Cambridge Hospital is a beautiful unit with lovely views of downtown Boston and Harvard Square. It includes a Labor and Delivery (L&D) Unit and a Postpartum Unit and helps more than 1,100 growing families every year. The 7 bed labor unit has 3 triage bays and 2 ORs. We are proud of our multidisciplinary patient care, our culturally sensitive approach to labor and delivery, and some of the lowest C-section rates in Massachusetts. The Post Partum Unit consists of 12 private rooms with a level 1b continuing care nursery. This unit provides care for mothers and infants right after birth and through the early stages of postpartum to discharge. We foster a culturally sensitive approach to couplet care and early family bonding. The RN provides an ongoing assessment and care of the mother through the postpartum periods according to established guidelines.Provides ongoing assessment and care of the newborn according to established guidelines.Provides education to maternal newborn dyad from birth to discharge. Orchestrates and coordinates discharge planning and follow up care for mother and newborn.
