Maintain accurate waste records, shipment documentation, and environmental reports. Identify opportunities to improve waste management efficiency and reduce disposal costs. Plant Support & Continuous Improvement Help maintain and update safety procedures, training materials, and operational records. Assist with onboarding and training employees on safety, housekeeping, and waste-handling procedures. Coordinate safety supplies, equipment, and purchasing requests. Perform minor maintenance and facility-related tasks as needed. Partner with employees and leadership to promote a strong culture of safety and accountability. Serve as a technical resource to faculty, staff, supervisors, and departments regarding hazardous materials, chemical safety, and related EHS requirements. Identify EHS training requirements, provide or coordinate required training, establish training schedules, and monitor completion and records in accordance with College and regulatory requirements. Conduct skills testing and qualification activities for forklifts, mobile elevated work platforms, and other applicable equipment. Participate in job hazard analyses, accident and incident investigations, emergency preparedness exercises, drills, and tabletop exercises; provide technical recommendations and assist with corrective actions. Participate in departmental safety meetings, College safety committees, and working groups and provide technical EHS expertise as assigned. Qualifications: Education Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Chemistry, or a related field required or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered. Certification for Hazardous Materials Emergency First Response or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager required. Experience Minimum of one year experience in environmental health and safety, hazardous materials management, occupational safety, industrial hygiene, or a related field. Experience conducting workplace inspections, audits, safety training, hazard assessments, or hazardous materials/waste management required. Working knowledge of applicable OSHA, EPA, DOT, and state environmental and safety requirements required. Experience working with hazardous chemicals, biological materials, regulated waste, or specialized equipment preferred. Working Conditions: Environmental testing equipment. Classroom setting to conduct employee training on proper handling of hazardous materials and chemicals. Responds to air quality concerns which may involve investigating the source of objectionable odors whenever they occur and conducts air sampling to determine corrective action. Responsibilities: Perform daily jobsite audits to ensure employees are working safely. Perform new hire and fleet training. Complete jobsite and vehicle accident investigation. Work closely with the Risk Manger to communicate and monitor injured employees. Take pictures of safe and unsafe activities. Document and record unsafe activities. Other responsibilities as needed. The EHS Lead will provide leadership in hazard identification, risk mitigation, compliance management, safety training, incident investigation, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage all site safety and health programs. Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and client-specific safety requirements.
