Job Details Weekly Estimated Pay: $10,250 - $10,800 Location: Dunkirk, NY 14048 – Hospital Setting (Western New York, Lake Erie region) Assignment Duration: 13 weeks (potential for extension) Start Date: February 24, 2026 End Date: January 1, 2027 Shifts per Week: 3 Shift Duration: 8-hour shifts; up to 10 hours onsite until cases complete, followed by pager call Shift Schedule: Day shifts with pager call on weeknights and weekends following onsite hours Position Type: Locum tenens anesthesiologist, hospital-based, perioperative care Job Requirements (Anesthesiology Qualifications) M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited college of medicine Completion of an ACGME-approved residency in Anesthesiology Board Certification or Fellowship in Anesthesiology required Current and active New York physician license required (NY anesthesiology jobs) ECFMG and FLEX (if applicable) Minimum 1 year of clinical anesthesia experience; prior locum tenens experience a plus Experience with general anesthesia for adult surgical cases; regional/neuraxial anesthesia experience preferred Strong skills in pre-anesthesia assessment, airway management, and perioperative decision-making Responsibilities Provide anesthetic care for general surgery and orthopedic procedures in a hospital setting Pre-anesthesia evaluation, verification of informed consent, and optimization of patients prior to procedures Discuss anesthetic options, risks, and plans with patients, families, and surgical teams Perform induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia for general and orthopedic cases Monitor physiological status throughout procedures and perform clinical interventions as needed Supervise and collaborate with CRNAs (1:4 MD to CRNA ratio) and provide independent coverage when on call Participate in departmental coordination and quality improvement activities within the Anesthesia Department Document anesthesia care accurately in the medical record and ensure compliance with hospital policies This locum tenens anesthesiologist position is ideal for providers seeking meaningful work in a supportive hospital environment.
