Equipment Solutions Manager - Fleet Management

Mortenson is seeking a strategic and operationally focused Equipment Solutions Manager - Fleet Management to lead the governance, lifecycle management, compliance, cost performance, and continuous improvement of Mortenson’s company vehicle fleet. This role will serve as the centralized business owner for vehicle fleet operations, helping establish standardized processes, improve data visibility, strengthen DOT and regulatory compliance, optimize vehicle utilization, and support scalable growth across Mortenson’s operating groups. The Fleet Manager will provide enterprise-level leadership across vehicle procurement, replacement planning, utilization, maintenance coordination, vendor management, licensing, telematics, fuel programs, insurance coordination, and fleet-related reporting. This position will partner closely with Equipment Solutions, Operations, Finance, Risk Management, Legal, HR, vendors, and field leadership to ensure Mortenson’s vehicle fleet supports project execution, safety, cost discipline, and long-term business needs. RESPONSIBILITIES: Fleet Governance & Strategy Develop, maintain, and continuously improve enterprise standards, procedures, and operating controls for Mortenson’s vehicle fleet. Build and maintain lifecycle replacement models that balance depreciation, maintenance risk, safety, utilization, operational need, and total cost of ownership. Analyze fleet utilization, maintenance trends, mileage, downtime, replacement timing, and vehicle suitability to improve asset performance. Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure vehicles are properly specified, ordered, delivered, upfitted, registered, and ready for business use. Support field leadership with vehicle allocation and planning decisions based on business priorities and operating needs. Compliance & Risk Management Lead compliance oversight for applicable DOT, state, registration, licensing, permitting, emissions, and fleet-related regulatory requirements. Partner with HR, Safety, Risk Management, Insurance, and Operations to support driver authorization, fleet risk mitigation, claims review, and compliance readiness.
