Position: Special Education Coordinator - Naperville Bridge School Location: Woodridge Interventions | 2221 64th St. | Woodridge, IL 60517 Salary: $24.48 per hour Job Type: Full-time About Us : Located on the campus of Woodridge Interventions in Woodridge, Illinois, the Naperville Bridge School (The Bridge) is a public/private partnership between Naperville (IL) School District 203 and Abraxas Youth & Family Services. The Bridge is designed for delivering education services to Naperville District 203 students who are determined to need Special Education services or an Alternative Learning Opportunity Program (ALOP). Our Bridge programs focus on four integral areas of service: Education, Behavior Modification, Social Skills Acquisition (Emotional Support), and Re-Integration/Transition. Our approach is to tailor services to best meet the targeted outcomes desired. To that end, the Bridge creates an individualized approach and system of services that best meet the specific needs of our students. Due to the needs of students at the Naperville Bridge School, a Special Education Coordinator is needed. A majority of the students attending the Bridge have academic challenges and deficiencies in credit attainment. The Special Education Coordinator would help provide individualized academic and social/emotional support to students through in classroom and pull out opportunities where needed. Medical & Dental & Vision Insurance Flexible Spending Accounts Basic Life & Short-Term Disability Insurance 401(k) Life Assistance Program (LAP) Tuition Assistance Program Paid Time Off (PTO) * Paid Holidays * Paid Training Advancement Opportunities Special Education Coordinator | Job Responsibilities: Communicate with District 203 staff regarding placements, tours, intake paperwork Communicate with parents of potential students to schedule tours Conduct tours of facilities Communicate with parents and student while completing intake paperwork which includes authorization, emergency contact, CPI policies, art therapy, fieldtrip policies, etc. Coordinate with District 203 staff and parents to set up and plan time and date for tours Insure that all aspects of the referral process paperwork is complete for individual student files Coordinate with lead teacher to create student class schedule at the Bridge Meet with new students on the first day to help coordinate schedule and intake meeting with social workers Submit bussing request to District 203 for student transportation to the Bridge Create a profile of the new student to disseminate information to the staff with regards to student strengths, weaknesses, IEP information, etc… Coordinate and communicate with parents, lead teacher, and District 203 staff the bus schedule for students that transition back to Naperville during the school day Research, coordinate and plan fieldtrips to appropriate college and career opportunities for students Research and review with individual student’s career and college interests Communicate with college, vocational schools for appropriate student tours Work with senior students to complete Financial Aide (FAFSA) for future school financing Work with senior students to complete application materials for future school attendance Work with senior students to answer questions and facilitate future school enrollment and attendance Facilitate potential housing needs for graduating seniors. Help to coordinate and implement incentives to advance student achievement Coordinate meals for students and staff participating in fieldtrips and late arrivals. Minimum Requirements: The following educational requirements are acceptable for this classification including: Bachelor in related field and minimum one year of related experience; OR Master in related field and minimum six months of related experience, preferred Excellent grammar, communication and organization skills. Other Qualifications: At least twenty-one (21) years of age. Criminal clearances (State Police, Local, FBI, DCFS and National Sex Offender Registry clearances). Valid driver's license. Must pass both federal and state background checks which screen for crimes including, but not limited to drug related crimes, violent crimes, sexual abuse, domestic violence, child abuse, and repeated misdemeanors. Ability to participate in and supervise therapeutic recreation activities structured for children and adolescents.
