OP Radiology Nurse/Nurse Navigator (Hiring Immediately)
Position Highlights Department: Diagnostic Imaging - Outpatient Center Hours: Per Diem Shift: Weekdays, Monday-Friday Position Summary: The Nurse Navigator applies the nursing process with patients and families, integrating principles that reflect sensitivity to their age-specific/developmental needs, gender, culture, religion, psychosocial and socioeconomic backgrounds in order to provide evidence-based, holistic care in a manner that respects the worth and dignity of each individual. Also responsible for practicing professional nursing as a registered nurse within the legal and ethical framework established by the Connecticut Nurse Practice Act and the American Nurses Association Scope and Standards for Nursing Practice and Code for Nurses. Additional Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Takes the lead on biopsies from beginning to end - scheduling, education, greeting and preparing patients, charting, post-procedure care, discharging, follow-up phone-calls, monitor pathology results, ensures appropriate follow-up for surgical consult recommendations Port access/deaccess Administer injections Code cart and AED sign-offs Other duties, as assigned Minimum Qualifications: RN graduated from an accredited school of nursing, preferably with BSN 2 years nursing experience Advanced knowledge and understanding of Radiology Imaging preferred Previous experience working in a cancer center is preferred Demonstrates strong communication, collaboration, coaching, and negotiation skills.
