Diesel Senior Technician
Job Description Job Description Job Title: Experienced Diesel Technician (Cummins / Caterpillar Specialist) Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Diesel Technician with expertise in Cummins and/or Caterpillar engines and equipment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and related systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability. Key Responsibilities: Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in diesel engines and heavy equipment Perform repairs and maintenance on Cummins and Caterpillar engines, generators, and machinery Use diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot engine faults and system failures Conduct routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and overhauls Interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service bulletins Ensure all work meets safety standards and manufacturer specifications Maintain accurate service records and documentation Communicate effectively with service advisors, supervisors, and customers Qualifications: Minimum of 3–5 years of experience working with diesel engines Proven experience with Cummins and/or Caterpillar equipment required Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems, including fuel, electrical, emissions, and hydraulics Experience using OEM diagnostic software (e.g., INSITE, CAT ET) Ability to read and interpret technical documents and schematics Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required) Preferred Certifications: OEM certifications from Cummins or Caterpillar ASE Diesel Certification (T2–T8) Technical school or trade program completion Skills & Attributes: Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong work ethic and reliability Working Conditions: Shop and field service environments May require lifting heavy components (50 lbs) Exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, and diesel fumes Compensation & Benefits: Competitive pay based on experience Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off and holidays Ongoing training and career development opportunities
