Erlanger is the sole Level I Trauma Center and a Joint Commission-certified Comprehensive Stroke Center within a 120-mile radius, serving as the tertiary referral center for a four-state region encompassing southeast Tennessee, north Georgia, north Alabama, and western North Carolina. Faculty manage a high volume of acute stroke presentations including thrombolytic administration and coordination of endovascular thrombectomy, supported by 24/7 interventional neurology coverage. Faculty also rotate through Erlangers satellite emergency departments, providing exposure to a range of patient populations and clinical environments. Total system volume exceeds 180,000 adult and pediatric emergency visits annually.
