The Mechanical Engineering department leads in the mechanical hardware design, development, and production of weapons systems. We use state-of-the-art tools, processes, and technology, with capabilities encompassing a broad range of technical disciplines, including product engineering, manufacturing, technical services, materials engineering, analysis and test, rapid hardware development/builds and configuration and data management documentation. The Mechanical Products Team is seeking a CAD Design Engineer in the Shipboard Effectors Department. This position is located on-site in Tucson, AZ. What You Will Do: Plan, lay-out, draw, and revise detailed part, assembly, and installation engineering drawings from basic layouts, references, and data. Complete details of major layout drawings prepared by others in accordance with standard engineering drafting practices using computer aided design systems. Determine scaling, inserts necessary reference datums, center and dimension lines, hidden line interpolations, and sectioning. Prepare complete production detail drawings. Develop design drawings according to engineering sketches and proposal specifications. Solve routine problems of varying scope and complexity following established policies and procedures with minimal direction or supervision. Qualifications You Must Have: Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience. Experience with CREO Parametric (Pro/Engineer) solid modeling CAD tool and considerable knowledge of Windchill data management (PDM) tool. The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. Qualifications We Prefer: Able to identify and correct design, model, or drawing errors/omissions/deficiencies and recommend corrective actions or improvements Experience using, interpreting, applying, and making decisions regarding the application of documentation specifications such as MIL-STD-31000, ASME Y14.5M, ASME Y14.24, and ASME Y14.100.
