This may include programs for girls ages 2 years-teens. Together with Tots, Rollers and Twisters, and SuperTots, as well as instruction in USAG Levels 1-3. EXAMPLES OF WORK: 1. Plan and develop new gymnastics related programs and services. 2. Prepares lesson plans for recreational lessons in conjunction with the head instructor. 3. Attends meetings pertinent to his or her position. 4. Incorporate virtue and character education into all classes that are developmentally appropriate. 5. Maintain accurate accounting of attendance in all classes. 6. Monitor gymnastics equipment for safety, maintenance, and replacement needs. 7. Fill out accident reports if necessary. 8. Help train and orient new staff. 9. Other duties as assigned by supervisor. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 1. Ability to work with children of all ages, but primarily from ages 2 through 12 2. Understanding of gymnastics and USAG progressions for levels 1-3 and/or Xcel levels 3. Parent/Teacher communication and excellent student retention 4. Ability to think creatively with regard to programming and instruction 5. Ability to communicate effectively, establish rapport with participants and their parents, be a team player in the organization, and exercise good judgement 6. Have working knowledge of appropriate technology to grow and enhance program ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING : 1. High school diploma preferred, but high school students with excellent gymnastics experience are encouraged to apply 2. The instructor works with other swim instructors and is immediately responsible for the children’s safety and participation. They are committed to fulfilling all HFSS duties with ethical conduct, community stewardship, individual initiative, and responsive service. The instructor demonstrates leadership, management, and technical skills through effective collaboration, using team resources, progressive decision-making, and personal responsibility. Serve as a role model for swimmers and staff, setting a positive example in conversation, personal habits, and attitude. Swiftly and effectively identify, respond and resolve swimmers behavior issues and/or disputes involving swimmers. Keep swim supplies and equipment in good shape; organize and put away teaching equipment; report damaged equipment to the Deck Supervisor; ensure facilities are kept clean, organized, free of litter and safe. Continuously learn and progress toward “expert status” in specific job duties. Attend staff meetings and training sessions as scheduled. Arrive at the pool a minimum of 15 minutes before the scheduled instruction period begins. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties, including but not limited to instructing swim lessons. Flexible with schedule and willing to help coworkers including substituting. Pool Lifeguard - Certification Cost Reimbursement
