The Position The Instructional Design Implementation Manager will report to the Every Learner Everywhere (Every Learner) Director and serve as the lead instructional design specialist for the Courseware Lighthouse Test Track: BEACON Implementation Program. This role will work closely with mathematics faculty, departmental leaders, partners, and project staff to redesign gateway mathematics courses (with an emphasis on Calculus I) and integrate AI-enabled courseware into coherent, evidence-based instructional models. The Instructional Design Implementation Manager will create and maintain course and courseware shells, support alignment of learning outcomes, assessments, and activities, and provide hands-on design and implementation support to institutional teams. The successful candidate will have substantial experience redesigning math courses, strong instructional design skills, and familiarity with adaptive or AI-enabled courseware. This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Duties and Responsibilities Instructional Design for Gateway Math Courses Collaborate with faculty and institutional teams to redesign Calculus I and related gateway math courses using the BEACON framework. Support alignment of learning outcomes, assessments, learning activities, and courseware usage to create coherent student learning experiences. Apply evidence-based teaching and learning practices appropriate for mathematics instruction, including active learning, problem-based learning, and metacognitive supports. Courseware and LMS Implementation Design, build, and support LMS course shells and Learnvia modules for participating institutions, across multiple LMS platforms, ensuring WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards. Configure courseware structures (modules, assignments, pacing, grading policies, analytics views) in alignment with departmental course designs. Support faculty in integrating courseware into existing LMS environments and ensuring consistency across multiple sections and instructors. Faculty Support and Professional Learning Provide faculty-facing guidance, templates, and resources for using courseware effectively in math courses. Support partners co-design and potentially facilitate workshops, webinars, and small-group sessions to support instructors in implementing redesigned courses and using courseware analytics. Offer individualized or small-group consultations with math faculty and instructional staff throughout the implementation process. Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement Monitor course and courseware for alignment, consistency, and usability across institutions and terms. Collaborate with partners and evaluation teams to interpret student outcome data and analytics, and use findings to inform iterative course improvements. Document design strategies, examples, and lessons learned that can be scaled across institutions and shared with the broader field. Collaboration with Partners and Project Team Work closely with Gardner Institute, TPSE Math, WestEd, and Every Learner staff to ensure instructional design work is integrated with Calculus course redesign, disciplinary guidance, and evaluation activities. Contribute to cross-institution communities of practice by sharing instructional design insights, artifacts, and examples. Coordinate with the Project Manager to align timelines, milestones, and support activities. Research and Landscape Analysis Conduct landscape analyses of courseware products used in Calculus I, including features, pedagogical models, analytics capabilities, accessibility, and integration considerations. Design and implement processes to gather and analyze feedback from faculty using current or prior courseware (e.g., surveys, interviews, focus groups, artifact review). Synthesize findings into summaries, memos, and presentations that inform courseware comparison, implementation strategies, and ongoing course redesign. Collaborate with evaluation and analytics partners to align instructional design insights with broader research and evidence-gathering activities. Performs other related duties as required to accomplish the objectives of Every Learner Everywhere and the BEACON Implementation Program. Job Qualifications and Requirements Master's degree in instructional design, education, mathematics education, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Significant experience (3 years) designing or redesigning college-level math courses, particularly gateway or introductory mathematics (e.g., Calculus I). Demonstrated knowledge of instructional design principles, learning science, and evidence-based teaching practices, with specific application to mathematics instruction. Experience designing and implementing courses in at least one major learning management system (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard, D2L/Brightspace); ability to learn and work across multiple LMS environments. Experience with adaptive or AI-enabled courseware or similar digital learning tools, including integration with LMS platforms. Strong technical skills and comfort working with digital learning tools, analytics dashboards, and course configuration settings. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, instructional staff, and cross-functional teams in higher education. Excellent communication, facilitation, and documentation skills, including the ability to translate complex design concepts into practical guidance.
