Diesel Mechanic

The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for the safe operation, repair, rebuilding, and maintenance of company-owned or leased heavy-duty diesel trucks and equipment, including rolling stock. The primary goal is to ensure all equipment is in top condition and operates safely at all times. Key Responsibilities Maintenance & Repair: Diagnose and repair operational difficulties with heavy-duty diesel trucks and equipment. This includes maintaining and repairing heavy diesel, CNG, gas, and electrically operated equipment and vehicles. Planning & Scheduling: Plan and schedule repairs using the M5 planner and procure all necessary parts for successful job completion. Administrative Duties: Complete reports, work orders, and order parts daily. Assist in reviewing mechanical write-ups and coordinating repair schedules. Safety & Compliance: Ensure safe working conditions and compliance with all safety regulations and federal, state/provincial, and local laws. Training: Assist in the training and orientation of new employees. Continuous Learning: Maintain working knowledge of the latest technology through technical manuals, seminars, and testing. Requirements Education: High school diploma or GED; a technical diploma is preferred. Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a diesel mechanic. Technical Skills: Experience using diagnostic software is a plus. Must be computer literate and willing to be trained on new software systems. Safety Standards: Must meet relevant criteria for safety-sensitive functions according to company standards. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Excellent communication skills. Ability to follow detailed instructions, work independently, and maintain accurate records. Ability to understand and use repair and parts manuals written in English.
