Role Overview: The Autonomous Vehicle Test Operator is responsible for operating and evaluating a self-driving vehicle in autonomous mode, including collecting data and providing feedback, and offering ride hail service to the general public. Eligibility: Must be at least twenty-one (21) years old, possess a valid Class C driver’s license, and have at least three (3) years of experience as a Class C licensed driver to operate Class C vehicles. Key responsibilities: Operate/Drive autonomous vehicles on both defined and undefined routes, including a variety of environmental conditions - driving (some manual driving but primarily monitoring the vehicle's behavior in autonomous mode) and (ii) software monitoring and logging responsibilities and providing verbal feedback/directions about the autonomous vehicles (AV) environment. Test other aspects of our autonomous vehicles Complete timely and detailed ride reports for our operations and engineering teams Must be able to work specific shifts, including early mornings, evenings, and/or weekends, as well as overnight shifts Maintain high standard of safety, inside and outside of the vehicle. COMPANY VEHICLE -You will be assigned a 2015 or later 550 Service truck with crane body, compressor, and welder / generator and a fuel card for commuting to work. All of our trucks have dash cams / GPS units. TOOLS AND AND EQUIPMENT -You must provide your own personal tools (impact, wrenches, sockets, prybars, etc). -We provide specialized tools such as torches, welder, plasma cutter, alignment machine, jacks, hose crimper, diagnostic laptops, etc. Qualifications ·Minimum 15 years experience -You must be organized and motivated to help run a first rate repair shop and committed to excellence. -We use ShopController software and other electronic tools for organizing our work. You must be comfortable using these types of software tools. Troubleshoot and repair heavy-haul trailers, including detachable gooseneck (RGN) lowboys, low-boy trailers, Landoll traveling-axle trailers, and roll-back / rollback equipment. Perform scheduled preventive maintenance to maximize equipment availability and keep fleet downtime below the division benchmark. Operate truck and engine manufacturer diagnostic software — such as PACCAR ESA and Davie4 (Peterbilt/Kenworth), Detroit DiagnosticLink (Western Star/Daimler), and Cummins INSITE — to pull fault codes, run guided diagnostics, perform calibrations and parameter programming, and verify repairs. Interpret diagnostic software output alongside wiring diagrams and OEM service manuals to accurately identify root causes and avoid repeat repairs. Maintain current knowledge of OEM diagnostic tools, software updates, and after- treatment/emissions systems as fleet makes and models evolve. Ensure DOT and FMCSA compliance on all inspections, repairs, and documentation; verify units are roadworthy before release. Coordinate with dispatch and operations to prioritize repairs, minimize disruption, and communicate realistic completion timelines. Pay Rate: The pay rate for this job is $15 - $15 / hour* What you'll be doing as a Vehicle Inspector: Communicate in a professional manner with customers (dealers or consumers) Resolve customer inquiries in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner; advise management of all complaints or incidents Ensure internal and external customers receive prompt, efficient, and courteous attention Inspect vehicles for signs of wear, tear, neglect, damage, previous repairs, or structural damage Complete vehicle inspections and ensure adherence to the defined program for the customer Capture data accurately on a mobile device and work comfortably with software and technology Deliver results in a timely manner Maintain productivity levels as set forth by management Deliver consistent and accurate inspections with a minimal error rate in accordance with reasonable expectations set forth by management Collaborate with the Manager and sales team members to address customer needs and provide insights to improve services Maintain equipment and tools properly and advise the Manager of any required maintenance or equipment breakdowns Ensure vehicles are kept in clean condition, with radios, seats, mirrors, and other convenience items returned to the same position as when the vehicle arrived Submit completed condition reports using the appropriate technology provided to complete vehicle inspections Complete road tests when required by contract or inspection type Stay current on technology updates, new releases, and product developments Understand the functionality of and ability to use tools such as paint meters, OBD scanners, and related equipment Develop and maintain knowledge and expertise regarding competitor products Perform any other duties assigned by the designated Manager Available shifts: Shift timings - 1st Shift (Day) Job requirements: Applicants must be at least 18 years of age to be considered for employment with PeopleReady High school diploma or GED preferred One year of automotive experience preferred Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license that meets applicable requirements Ability to safely drive a variety of vehicle makes, models, and sizes Proficiency in computer systems and applications Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills Ability to enter data using a handheld device Team player with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments and with customers and vendors Strong customer service skills High degree of focus on safety Proven ability to multitask while maintaining attention to detail Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Excellent verbal and written communication skills Background Check and Drug Test Required Ready to take control of the way you work?
