Job Title: Senior Network Automation Engineer Job Location: Charlotte, NC - Hybrid (1 day/week onsite) – Preferred candidates within 1 hour of Charlotte, NC. Job Duration: 12 months (with potential extension) Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (some flexibility required for global collaboration; occasional overtime possible) Travel Requirements: Up to 5% domestic travel Position Overview: We are seeking a Senior Network Automation Engineer to act as a technical leader in designing, developing, and managing large-scale network automation solutions across enterprise environments. This role requires strong hands-on expertise in: Arista automation (AVD – Arista Validated Designs) Infrastructure as Code (IaC) CI/CD pipeline development for network automation Note: The ideal candidate will have an automation-first mindset and collaborate closely with network engineering, operations, security, and platform teams to drive standardization, scalability, and operational efficiency . Key Responsibilities: Network Automation & Engineering: Serve as a subject matter expert in network automation across routing, switching, data center, and campus environments Design and maintain Arista AVD-based automation frameworks (Day 0, Day 1, Day 2 operations) Convert network designs into reusable automation components (roles, templates, pipelines) Drive adoption of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices CI/CD & Automation Platforms: Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub, GitLab, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps Implement automated testing, validation, and deployment workflows Manage version control, branching strategies, and code reviews Integrate automation pipelines with enterprise systems (ITSM, IPAM, source-of-truth platforms) Standards, Quality & Governance: Ensure compliance with enterprise architecture and security standards Develop automated compliance checks and remediation workflows Maintain documentation (runbooks, design standards, user guides) Participate in architecture reviews and approve key changes Leadership & Collaboration: Mentor and guide network and automation engineers Partner with operations teams to automate manual workflows Collaborate with cross-functional teams (security, cloud, DevOps, OT/manufacturing) Act as escalation point for complex issues Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field 7 years of network engineering experience (enterprise or service provider) 5 years of hands-on network automation experience Proven experience owning or leading automation frameworks Required Skills: Strong hands-on experience with Arista AVD in enterprise environments Advanced expertise in Ansible, Python, YAML, JSON Experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines for automation Proficiency in Git workflows, code reviews, and release management Deep knowledge of networking concepts: BGP, OSPF, EVPN/VXLAN, routing & switching Experience with APIs and automation interfaces ( REST, eAPI, gNMI) Strong communication and collaboration skills Preferred Skills Experience integrating with ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow) Exposure to cloud networking (AWS, Azure) Experience in manufacturing or OT environments Familiarity with testing frameworks and automation validation tools
