Technical Architect - (Local, AZ Only)
Length: 12-month initial contract Location: Tempe, AZ - hybrid Summary We are looking to retain the services of an Architect for Information Technology Services (ITS) to help to define a target architecture within the marketing technology (MarTech) stack that will support the Organization’s vision for personalization in customer communication and marketing. An individual successful in this position needs to have knowledge and experience in The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) and MarTech solutions, especially Customer Data Platform (CDP), analytics and personalization, integration & interoperability, cloud & hybrid architecture. The the Organization marketing team currently utilizes a multitude of technologies to deliver personalization across many platforms, including email, web, social, print, and events. What You'll Do Architects play a crucial role in designing a resilient and risk-mitigated plan of the technology with key capabilities and driving innovation within the Organization Marketing. The Architect will support the development of templates and tools that enhance framework and vision for a consistent data application, and integration structure across all ITS departments for complementary architecture services. The Architect’s primary responsibility will be that of an Architect working exclusively in the Martech domain, and core team member for the CCM (Community, Communications and Marketing) Personalization Technology Alignment project. The architect will be responsible for managing deliverables and timeframes as they are established with the project team, documented in the critical milestones and project plan. Following is an overview of the project: Purpose Enable the Organization to deliver automated, near real time personalized experiences across all customer touchpoints by FY29, aligned with the 2035 corporate goal of improving customer satisfaction and loyalty. Provide the ability to understand what the Organization customers’ interests are and enable the Organization to meet those expectations with automated customized experiences Benefits Enhance customer's experience with the Organization through personalized messaging A sustainable solution for the CCM team to support its strategic personalization vision Vision Move beyond transactional communications to orchestrate the entire customer journey from first interaction through ongoing engagement across MyAccount / Customer Modernization, email, SMS, print, paid media and social platforms. This unified approach ensures customers receive timely, relevant and consistent communication across all touchpoints, eliminating silos and improving satisfaction Outputs include supporting the delivery of the project scope: CCM Personalization Strategy Realize a CCM personalization vision that aligns with the Organization’s holistic customer experience and create a specific technology roadmap to enable CCM’s efforts in realizing that vision Define a Scalable Target Architecture Identify technology platforms and integrations that provide the necessary capabilities to deliver personalization vision, including 6-year strategy Create a Governance Structure Address overall governance of new target architecture including ownership, support, and data governance, will include cross team representation, business & technology Scope & Prioritize Interim Work in Support of Personalization Document and prioritize interim work (e.g., system integrations) ensuring efforts align with the target architecture Operationalization of Audience Management Build Establish clear processes and systems for creating and using audience segments. Include practical scenarios, process maps, and safeguards to enable teams to confidently and responsibly activate personalization. Identify sources of truth The Architect will work with Information Technology Leadership to create the approach and strategy for developing the Target Architecture. What It Takes To Succeed The following key competencies are being sought for this role: Experience developing visuals and textual documentation supporting complex technical projects Ability to effectively communicate with peers and stakeholders via written and verbal methods Analytical and problem-solving experience and skills Strong technical proficiency Solution design Focus Integration strategy Architecture diagrams and issue resolution Integration of ecosystems The candidate is required to have the following skills: Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including various domain experts and architects, to deliver strategic results Skilled in designing, documenting and aligning complex IT (especially Martech) architecture(s) Experience working with vendors, consultants, and trusted third parties to understand technology capabilities, both current and planned Deep understanding of customer marketing data, how it’s captured, stored, shared, analyzed and ultimately actioned on to generate personalized customer experiences in real time. Preferred Qualifications The following experience is beneficial: Experience with Creative Automation and Content Marketing Platform, for dynamic content generation Understand Data enablement for paid media and social retargeting activation Experience with e-commerce and marketing personalization Have worked with Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) for consent and compliance enforcement Experience working within the Utility Industry Deep knowledge of one or more architecture disciplines including Business, Application, and Infrastructure Experience working with both Information and/or Customer Technology solutions Experience A Level 3 (Senior) is required for this position, a minimum of five years of related experience is required (if no degree, nine years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience totaling nine years). Following is an overview of the primary systems currently included in the Organization’s MarTech stack: Customer Data Platform (CDP) used as an orchestration hub for multi-channel journeys (e.g. Zeta) Analytics and Tag Management tools (e.g. Adobe Analytics and Adobe Launch) Digital Asset Management (DAM) stores, organizes, and distributes digital assets (e.g. OpenText and IPV) Content Management System (CMS) enabling the dynamic creation, management and delivery of personalized web content across digital properties (e.g. Contentstack) Cloud data warehousing and analytics platforms (e.g. Snowflake, PowerBI, Dataiku) as a data spine for profiles, events, and analytics of customer touchpoints. Creative and Content Production tools for workflow management, design, and automation of content production (e.g. Adobe Workfront, Adobe Creative Cloud, Storyteq, Canva) Marketing Automation and Campaign Management that supports personalized, multi-channel campaigns including email, print, and direct mail (e.g. XMPie, Zeta) Earned and owned media platforms, such as social and public relations systems, including monitoring and measurement capabilities that provide insight into engagement and influence across customer touchpoints. Education A bachelor’s degree related to the assignment from an accredited institution is preferred.
