Machine Shop Supervisor

This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing nightly machine shop operations, driving production efficiency, maintaining quality standards, and developing a high-performing team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Partner with 1st Shift leadership to coordinate nightly production schedules, machine priorities, and staffing needs Supervise daily machine shop operations including CNC machining, fabrication, or secondary processes to ensure production goals are met Lead and promote a safe working environment while ensuring compliance with all safety and environmental regulations Directly supervise production employees, including assigning work, monitoring performance, and providing coaching/training Review work orders, job travelers, blueprints, and production schedules to prioritize workflow and maximize throughput Ensure parts are produced to print, quality standards, and customer specifications Monitor machine utilization, downtime, scrap, and overall efficiency; implement corrective actions as needed Coordinate with Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, and Scheduling teams to resolve production issues quickly Conduct employee performance reviews, attendance management, disciplinary actions, and employee relations matters Drive continuous improvement efforts focused on productivity, setup reduction, waste elimination, and process improvements Maintain shift communication logs and provide detailed turnover updates to 1st Shift leadership Qualifications Minimum 3–5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within a machine shop or CNC machining environment Strong knowledge of machine shop operations including CNC mills, lathes, tooling, setups, and machining processes Proven leadership ability with experience motivating, coaching, and developing shop floor employees Understanding of quality systems, blueprint reading, tolerances, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methods Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions in a fast-paced production setting Excellent verbal and written communication skills Proficient with Microsoft Office and production reporting systems Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting production deadlines Location & Shift Phoenix, AZ 2nd Shift: Monday – Thursday, 2:00 PM – 1:30 AM (4x10 schedule) Benefits Comprehensive benefits package available including Medical, Vision, Dental, 401(k), and Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
