Key Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant: The Staff Accountant will process, code, and post vendor invoices while ensuring accuracy and appropriate approval routing. Apply Connecticut sales and use tax correctly to invoices and purchases, maintaining compliance with state regulations. Reconcile vendor statements, resolve discrepancies, and maintain up-to-date AP records. Assist with cash disbursements, check runs, and ACH payments to vendors and subcontractors. Prepare and post journal entries for month-end close and support account reconciliations. Collaborate with project managers and procurement teams to ensure proper job cost allocation and invoice accuracy. The Staff Accountant will also help prepare monthly CT sales and use tax returns and support audits as needed. Work closely with the Controller and other accounting staff to identify process improvements and support departmental goals. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field preferred. 2-4 years of accounting experience, ideally as a Staff Accountant within the construction industry. Strong background in accounts payable and Connecticut sales and use tax compliance. Proficiency with accounting or ERP systems (such as Sage 300, Viewpoint, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
