DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Sets up and operates all welding equipment to construct parts from components. Measures and inspects all parts to ensure conformity to engineering specifications and quality standards. Supports company objectives by using skills whenever needed to help meet metal shop production goals. Assists and trains others in development of skills and adherence to quality standards, when requested by supervisor. Helps maintain inventory of materials and welding supplies. Completes quality and production documentation, when requested by supervisor. Maintains a clean and safe work area at all times. Participates in company-wide quality and performance improvement efforts. Operates sheet metal fabrication equipment, as required. Cleans or degreases parts. QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent; 1-2 years related welding experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certificates, licenses and registrations required: Welder Certification Program. Expertise in analysis, critical decision making and process improvement. Capable of reading, understanding and following weld procedure. Must adhere to all safety policies and procedures in place at the facility. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills Other skills required: Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. Ability to read and understand AWS welding symbols. Ability to read specifications, shop drawings, schematics and blueprints. Familiar with all related hand tools.
