This role involves direct patient care, medication management, and supporting pharmacy operations with opportunities for professional growth and leadership. Oncology Pharmacist Responsibilities Review and verify provider medication orders for accuracy, appropriateness, and potential interactions. Prepare, compound, and dispense medications (oral, IV, topical, enteral) in compliance with protocols and regulations. Monitor patient therapy for efficacy and safety, adjusting regimens in collaboration with providers. Provide drug information and education to medical staff and patients. Counsel patients on medication use, side effects, and adherence, including during discharge and outpatient encounters. Supervise, mentor, and delegate tasks to pharmacy technicians and support staff. Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with hospital policies, state/federal regulations, and accrediting standards. Manage inventory, storage conditions, and monitor drug shortages or recalls. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical programs. Serve as acting Pharmacy Director during absences, ensuring continuity of operations. Ensure integrity of all products prior to distribution to patient care areas. Follow all United States Pharmacopeia (USP) recommendations. Oncology Pharmacist Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy required; Doctor of Pharmacy preferred. At least 1 year of pharmacy experience preferred, but less than 1 year considered. Current, unrestricted Pharmacist license in Colorado. Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) certifications required. Relocation to Grand Junction, CO required before start date.
